What's Your Next Purchase? V5

After all of the bullshit that happened with sending my slide to 460Rowland and USPS losing it, I finally got the completed barrel and compensator assembly today.

Have a look:

Note the nice, improperly milled oblong barrel. Perfect for blowing my hand clean off.

But seriously

<2>

So is the comp welded crooked as well as the barrel being oval or is that just the angle it was resting? Is it just the comp that has the oblong opening or is it literally an oval rifled barrel?

The comp is off by probably 1 degree, which isn't the biggest deal. That's just the angle the barrel has turned to while hanging loose. The compensator is perfectly machined, the actual fucking barrel is ovaled at the end. Chamber side is fine, rounds seat perfectly. I tried to seat a bullet in the end of the barrel and got maybe 2mm past the flatnose.

<{hmmm}>

On closer inspection it looks as though the oval shape has been caused by some slag that has run into the barrel. Probably from a copper crush washer. Why in the fuck they thought a crush washer was necessary on a pinned and welded compensator is beyond me.

The more I stare it this the less it makes sense.

I got another package today:

A 7 round .50 Beowulf magazine...

Filled with possibly not beowulf

I will find out if it feeds and cycles properly this weekend and report back for other CA gun owners. This jumps firmly into a pretty dangerous legal gray area, but technically these beowulf mags top out at 10 rounds (will likely hold around 30 rounds of .223).

Whoa

I'm sending that barrel assembly back today to have it fixed. I also hand cycled .223 rounds through that beowulf mag: it reliably held and fed 20 rounds and the bolt locked back. No modifications to the magazine.

I just bought the new Shield 45 last week. Haven't shot it yet but I've done a bunch of dry fire work this week and I'm really enjoying it. I have an XDs in .45 also and it's great for concealing but shooting it sucks and I kinda suck with it too haha. The Shield has always felt better in my hands and the only reason I didn't buy one a couple years ago was because there was no .45 available. Shield is a much more natural pointer for me and my draws from concealment on both guns this week have definitely reinforced the Shield's ergos. Gonna take it out either this weekend or next week midweek to run it

Also to be more on topic, I am pretty sure my next purchase is going to be the CZ P07 in Urban Grey. Love everything about that gun. Looks, size, round capacity, threaded barrel for running suppressed, perfect ergos for me. Out of the box ready to run. Been searching locally and online and they never stay in stock anywhere! I'll snatch one up by the end of the year, sooner if possible

Not a purchase but I've been back and forth with weatherby for awhile over a
Broken part on a vanguard wilderness, after explaining to to them and taking pics and stuff, I finally got to talk to Adam weatherby, he offered to send me a mkv ultralight in 300wby as a replacement with the caveat that I give them some feedback on the gun.

I said sure. So they basically gave me an upgrade rather than sending mine in for repairs. Lol.
