What's your plan if something like this happens to you and your family?

First priority is to secure your home. Make it timeconsuming and loud to get into. This on it's own will discourage most criminals, forewarned is forearmed. A lot of people don't realise how easy it is to lift certain sliding doors or snap cheap cylinder locks.

1. Dogs. I have 2 that would not be nice to home invaders. I have a Leonberger that sleeps in front of the front door every night. She walks the perimeter several times a night and goes up and checks on the kids as well (now college aged). My other dog sleeps in our room and is a family dog. She does not like strangers and will attack if threatened.
2. My son is 6'2 210 Linebacker and County champ wrestler that has a bat under his bed.
3. I have a bat under my bed, as well as a blade.
4. I do have a gun, but with college kids coming in and out, best to keep that for alien invasions. If it were like described in OP, the dogs and the men could buy time for my wife to get the Gat.
