Social whats your favorite gun

As for a specific gun that I own, I'd have to say it's the 1961 Winchester model 94, 30-30 my Dad gave me when I turned 14.

I wouldn't trade it for a million dollars.

Is that a lever action? Fuck yes.

There's a few things that can go wrong, espescially with a rental. You can have top strap erosion/frame cutting from shooting hot rounds through it. There's forcing cone failure, too. These are really common with .357 K-frames due to nature of shooters using high/overpressure ammo. There's also barrel replacement issues. I remember when my boss asked me if i felt comfortable replacing a barrel on a 66-3. I told him I was a glorified parts plumber and left it at that.
I’ve heard going full bore with a K frame is a bad idea. Everyone where I live carries a Ruger RedHawk to handle high pressure loads. Fucking bears, man.

1911 is a nice gun. 45 calibre. Handles well. I like the look. Ammo a bit more expensive, so Baretta 9mm is my other fav

1911s are great. I want a period specific A1, but I've been really dragging my feet. Closet thing I have at the moment is a Norinco. About a year ago, I rescued a bubba'd Norinco for $200. What's funny, is the price was around that when I wanted one when I teenager.

I asked my father to buy one for me after I had saved up the money. I already had a few firearms at the time, but the idea didn't sit well with him.

This is horrible photo I took after picking it up:

Whomever installed the Trijicon sights did a really horrible job. They smashed the rear sight in versus fitting. The right side of the sight was bent inwards. Amazingly, the tritium vial remained intact. What doesn't make sense, is the fact that they took the time make a flat for the front sight. Look at the horrible gap. The front sight wasn't even peened. It was trimmed and set with epoxy. I got a decent return on it from selling all the aftermarket stuff (mainspring housing/mag well, grip safety, guide rod).

I really need to get around to it. Here's how it sits today:

Not sure which way I want to got with it. I'd like to restore it, but the slide is screwed with that flat. I'd constantly look at it. Might get nostalgic and do a MEU(SOC) clone with the frame. Yeah, 1911s are awesome. The trigger and grip angle is often imitated.

It's not so much the issue with construction or being able to handle loads. It's how they are usually used. Has QC slipped, yes. That's everything. However, there's a large population that thinks wheel guns are more robust/reliable, and will last forever. They have tighter tolerances.

Noticed people treat their sidearms like shit. Throwing them in toolboxes and shit.

Callahan full bore auto-lock with customized trigger and thorough gauge.

Heh, I have a toolbox/tackle box pistol. It's a derided pistol that's been recalled, but it runs like a champ.

Not mine, but the same model. A compact 10+1 .45 ACP. The only thing to hate is the really long pull, but you can time the reset.

Yeah, I've seen some old-timers pop larger fish with really shitty .22s. They're usually used Rohms with snook.

I have big hands. I'm 6'7" size 13 ring can palm a basket ball. Too unwieldy for me. Sure 16 rds of .45 is sweet but that thing is a unwieldy beast.

HK p7 is finest hand gun ever made IMHO. Paid $2500 for mine, Nickle 13rder can sell for $5000 today,

Runner's up sig anything particularly 226....then glock anything but same plasticy slippery when wet handle problem as FN ...then maybe my FN.

There was a rash of Statie trade-ins in the late 90's to early 2000. I remember people balking about the $6-700 price point for them.

Robocops gun is the best and it comes out of his leg too, how handy is that!
