What's up with this Emilia Perez movie?

Hollywood's always been weird on guys playing female roles in drag. Now they really bumped their requirements for committing to the part. RIPenis Emilio.

The Thailand hospital scene belongs in a horror film. Disturbing.
 
Is this Latin America’s “Moonlight”?
 
I saw a summary and it looked like the worst woke shit of all time.

It is a druglord who suddenly becomes a "woman" and apparently suddenly is a good person and the public has swallow it... then ends up with the tranny being turned into a saint or something.

Also Serena Gomez fucking sucks.

the summary you read is god awful terrible and inaccurate

the druglord doesnt suddenly become a woman, the transition takes 6 years

the druglord doesnt suddenly become a good person, they reunite with their children after having been out of the cartel game for 4 years and they have a revelation about wanting to do something good because they realize how losing a child impacts them personally

the public doesnt have to "swallow" anything, the public has zero idea that emilia perez was ever a drug lord. She doesnt come on to their radar until she starts a movement to help families who lost loved ones to gang violence. Nobody realizes that she is a tranny so thats kind of irrelevant to people viewing her as a kind of saint after she is murdered

you really need to find a better source for movie summaries
 
while the musical numbers in this film are pretty forgettable to horrible (the transition scene at the hospital yuck), here are a couple of the better songs imo

for context, this scene takes place in the imagination of zoe saldanas character. She and Emilia Perez are hosting a banquet to raise funds for helping families who lost loved one to cartel violence and Saldana having been a defense attorney recognizes people inthte audience for being corrubt scumbags. She pleads with Emilia Perez to not pander to these people since they are the criminals that perpetuate the violence going on but Emilia responds that they need $ to fund their organization and these are the only people she knows who have money. Zoe Saldanas character then breaks into song about how they will all be exposed if she has her way.


Here is a musical number by Selena Gomes where she is with her new love of her life and ready to start new beginings believing that her druglord husband (a transitioned Emielia Perez) is dead. This is an important scene because it initiates the climatic downfall of Emelia Perez who is unable to accept that her family will move on without her hence the concerned look on Zoe Saladnas face towards the end because she realizes what will transpire if Selena Gomes moves on with a new man

Not at all that movie was better made. This is not latin americas anything it was made by a french director in Paris,france sound stages the main actor is also from alcobendas, Spain

Suburban commando had a more believable story line than this movie.

Not gonna lie...if I were this leading lady, I'd definitely be salty not being nominated for best actress AND best actor. Might as well swing for the fences!
 
It is Oscar bait sadly and got the awards noms it got is due to heavy f'n campaigning. I myself am a leftist and even I didn't enjoy the film at all and am shocked at all the accolades it is getting
