What's up with this Emilia Perez movie?

It is a terrible story arch and the pacing was also terrible. This film should have swept the razzies not the oscars.
So it's just a bad movie? Thanks for watching it so we don't have to.

Based on some interviews I've seen of the director, it seemed like he just didn't give a fuck. It's like he thought "It has brown people and a trans woman, I'm gonna get oscars for this."

I didn't know it existed until Selena Gomez's Oscar performance on Tik Tok or whatever. A video by Nerdrotic on YT popped up and I watched for teh lulz. The basic premise of "Mexican drug lord fakes death and becomes trans" has promise, but apparently they fucked it up.
That Selena Gomez scene is so weird. We know she can actually sing since she's a singer, but why did they shoot it like she sucks at singing, in a musical?

I rather rewatch the last days of American crime which was the worst film I had seen till I saw emilia perez they also need to stop giving Edgar ramirez work.

why doesn't the tranny just say i dont believe those toxic masculinity ideals anymore now that im a woman and now that im a woman im a woke liberal like all real women are

'Cause trans. They so badly want to give the first "Best Actress" award to a man. The movie wasn't even liked that much by critics that would usually deep throat a movie like this simply for the subject matter alone. Doesn't matter. They have an agenda to push.

That said, I think it might've gotten a bit complicated given the actor's prior hot takes on Twitter.

Because their daddies Robert Kapito and Larry Fink told them to give it a lot of Oscars to help push the agenda and that trans shit bs to normalize degeneracy

That will help them reach their final goal and you don't wanna know what their final goal is

What happened? Always fun to read that these people who are clearly fucked up in the head let the world know they are indeed fucked up in the head.

Which actor? The guy who became a woman or someone else?

Exactly, it's for no other reason than there's a tranny in the lead. It's hilarious that their little virtue pony ended up being a bit of a cunt and it's backfired on them.

People still listen to award shows? I've always thought it was pretty obvious that the Oscars are mostly all about people whom are well-connected, involved in works that are pushing popular narratives in the current paradigm, getting ass-pats from their rich buddies. Actual good works of art still get an award here and there thrown their way, but there are way too many that just go to some BS. Anything that's not decided by the public: Oscars, Grammys Emmys, etc, don't pay it any attention, let it wither and die. It means nothing.

There was a few comments, but one in particular seemed to cause a lot of backlash. Said something about George Floyd being a worthless dead junkie or some shit. The takes were anything but woke, and lifted the veil off of this very brave and bold individual.

He apologized, but I don't know if it will be enough.

I went to Wikipedia and was looking at the Emilia Perez article, they have a whole section about her attacking quite a few groups. Crazy that people can't keep their personal thoughts and comments to themselves.

Ironic musical about supposedly tough drug dealer becoming a Mexican tranny directed by a French dude is irresistible for Hollywood bigwigs in 2025. It’s no surprise that people hate it and they love it.

the completely undeserved nominations for this movie is not about pushing an agenda. it’s more about out-of-touch elites patting themselves on the back for a politically & culturally relevant “message” film. the problem w/ Emilia Pérez (significantly more so than the “message” follies regarding previous fails like Crash or Green Book) is that the “message” is for no one, benefits no one, & is rejected by nearly everyone in the communities directly affected by the “message”

end of the day this is two things:
1. Hollywood elites being desperate to stay politically relevant at a time when their relevance is less relevant than ever
2. Netflix clearly having a ton of sway & influence—more so than any other streaming platform that produces & distributes original content—in Hollywood & other major film awards committee or nomination/voting body, both domestic & international

the fact that all this controversy has surfaced in recent months is fucking hilarious because the most egregious example of Hollywood desperation & pandering has backfired spectacularly.

I plan to watch and will try to have an open mind but I absolutely expect this movie to suck. The fact its getting push back from the communities it is supposed to cater to is funny. I wonder if the Academy voters are regretting making this one of the most decorated films in OSCAR history. This could bite them in the ass and further hurt their credibility.
Im quoting myself so people see my opinions before having watched this film. Now having watched it, it was a damn good movie. Really surprised me with how much I enjoyed it. Is it 13 nominations good? hell no. But people need to actually watch films instead of letting others tell them what to think.

And still <DontBelieve1>
