What's up with Pereira wanting to fight every 3 months?

It's always refreshing to have a champ like Pereira who wants to stay active. Not sure how Pereira will fight this summer. UFC 305 is in Australia, and they probably want Du Plessis vs. Adesanya to headline that event. UFC 306 already has Topuria and O'Malley, so I doubt they'll add Pereira there. Everything seems to be pointing towards UFC 307 in Abu Dhabi against Magomed Ankalaev. Throw in Islam vs. Tsarukyan, and we've got an awesome card.

he wants to build a legacy for sure
his time is short hes like 36 or 37

Doesn't he have a family to be around or enjoy life? I mean I get it if you are a non champion... but as a champion I don't know why would you continue to push for that? He wants once again to fight in August, why not enjoy the summer vacation and regroup? I don't think this is a good idea for your career , both mentally and physically is going to take a toll.
what a fucking odd take.

He isn’t getting any younger. Alex has another 3 years left. I don’t think it would be healthy for him to continue cutting weight and taking damage at age 40.

To do the math, in 36 months and a fight every 4 months means he would have 9 fights left in his career.

Every 6 months, he would have a total of 6 fights left (which is not bad either).

Every year, well that’s 3 fights left. Nobody wants to see that Jon Jones sabbatical.

Alex wanting to fight more frequent means he is well respected. After it’s all said and done, he would have all the time with his family by age 40. Only a small percentage of dads and husbands can spend full time with their children and spouse in this world.

You also have to factor in his training regiment. I think he trains six days, actually six days a week. Five days a week, he trains three days a week. One of those days he’ll train two days of the week. So, six days a week he’ll be training.

Ummmm that's what the UFC needs more of is a FIGHTING champion who actually cares about defending his title and being active so I gotta give him his props. I like that he's gonna be in the same category as former champions like Mighty Mouse, Kamaru Usman, Isreal Adensya, and 205 Jon Jones

he comes from kickboxing, where the top fighters sometimes fight each other several times a year. nobody is sitting out, they all want to duke it out with each other.
in mma fighters are complaining about not wanting to fight somebody who is 1 rank lower than them. or need a zillion week camp to prepare for a specific opponent and then refuse a replacement guy because they didnt prepare for that one.

mma is a more brutal sport but the fighters seem way way more picky and not ready to go like kikcboxers and muay thai

Its the kickboxing background, same with Izzy. These guys are used to fighting 6 or 7 times a year, 3 times a year is nothing.

What do you mean whats up with wanting to actually fight? you got it totally wrong, its the other way round.. whats up with these champions not fighting and always inactive

This is the Ultimate FIGHTING Championship
Not the Ultimate INACTIVE Championship

He's almost 37 and still in his prime. It's smart to squeeze out as many wins and money as possible now for his MMA legacy's sake and for his financial future's sake before he declines.

He's 36 years old and knows he doesn't have much time left at the top. He's trying to make the most of it.
People always say that about him. He's at LHW. Dude could hang around for another five years.

Lets see.. He started MMA late, wants to build his legacy, he... wait WHO THE FUCK CARES, its great for us that he wants to fight every 4 months. I wish more would do it

He's a fighter.

He seems to have a pretty solid system where he spends a lot of time with his family even in training camps, I mean from just looking at his socials the guy is always doing work in the gym even when he doesn't have a fight booked.

Also he's 36/37, he most likely knows he doesn't have much time left in the sport and wants to make the most of it. He's always been an active fighter as well, it's just the way he works at his best.
And I'm not complaining, it's fun having a fighter at his level be this active and wanting to fight frequently.
This is the correct answer, there are big ($$$) fights available, he hasn't taken much damage and he's closing in on 40, now is the time to make it happen and in the modern MMA era one might even say to cultivate a legacy/following for after top level MMA competition.
