with their network and connection with fighters, they could have a rival org set up within a year

Put almost 20 years into building a brand, just to sell it and start again?... Sounds like an amazing plan.

Non-compete clause in the sale contract. That is pretty standard.

Not to mention the fact that they spent years of heart ache and negotiations getting a majority of the world's best fighters into contracts that would now be inaccessible to them thanks to those very contracts.

It would be like selling NBC and then starting a public access kid's show that you hope to one day be a massive multimedia conglomerate.

They won't do that. It makes zero cents. I'm too lazy to explain why

I have to admit I laughed harder than I should have. SOunds so logical when you put it that way.

why the fuck would they do that.

first, non compete clause.
2nd why sell if just to start over again at the exact same business.

Dear TS, sneaky fucks have existed since the dawn of time, which is why contracts have so much fine print

Doh. Guys paying the bill put a non-compete clause in contract? Just like UFC does with its fighters and employees.

They will have to sign a DNC and the time stipulation will probably be a decade ...

just the fact that they'll be in a position where all other mma farm has always been, and the fact that they will have to compete with the massive brand UFC is now..

More chance of them buying soccer and taking it back above UFC

Even if there was no non compete clause; who would they sign to fight? Every decent fighter on the planet is already under contract somewhere else.

It's a no-compete clause. When I was 10 years old I sold my Pogs to a kid at school. I told him if he ever used them to beat me I'd kick his ass and take my Pogs back. It's a no-compete clause.
