Take the recent NXT event Great American Bash. The event without the preshow was only 2 hours 10 minutes, so why not include it?

Does anyone know the reasoning? If they were smaller, lesser known or greener wrestlers they are building up it would make sense but lately it's all people that have feuds and storylines going on during the weekly shows.

It made more sense back in the PPV days. You'd put the pre-show on free TV to get those last minute PPV buyers to jump in. Like Sunday Night Heat before a PPV was important.

Now I'm not so sure.

Haven't they historically been used to get new talent experience, before putting them on the biggest stage?

Our loot frfibg fresh.

Now who can argue with that? I think we're all indebt to lakersfan for stating what needed to be said. I am particulary glad that these lovely children are here today to hear that speech. Not only was it authentic frontier gibberish, it expressed the courage little seen in this day and age.

Pre-show matches make more sense on Smackdown cards than on Raw cards. Since Smackdown is a 2 hour TV broadcast you get less wrestling action bang for your buck.

They are generally used to get new wrestlers experience preforming in front of a crowd.

The crowd has to warm up, too. Why do you think bands have opening acts?

Smackdown has a pre-show match, and a dark match after the TV portion is over.
