What's the point if ties?

My pet peeves is seeing a person dressed in a suit without pocket squares.

I think it's kind of unfortunate now that some of us are under the impression that as an adult, having the same sense of style as when you are in high school somehow makes you cool.

Knowing how to dress according to occasion is fast becoming a lost art for men.

So you can fucking hang yourself when you realize how much of your life you spend at a desk.

It's a social convention, just like most else. What's the point of collared shirts? What's the point of high-heels for women? Some prick at some point decided it looked good, so it became the norm.

I read the title as what's the point of tits and got utterly rustled.
Tits are overrated. Ass >>>

They still have a point. Unless you like men...

Why's that, the pocket square thing? They came back in fashion 5-7 years ago and some guys are still holding on to the look, but it's hardly a necessity.

To hide the top button I can't button because I bought my shirt at Kohls without knowing my actual neck size and just eyeballed it because trying it on seemed like too much of a hassle.

I just went to a funeral on the weekend and actually noticed the lack of pocket square on my suit seemed glaring.

I must be getting old.

It's a metaphorical representation of Lucifer's tool of lust in order to make ladies think about the male sex organ. A real Christian man must be modest and hide the covert powers of his genitalia. No more must women face this spiritual gauntlet as they attend church surrounded by a sea of seducing phallic pointers.

Once you are wearing a suit, necessity isn't relevant. Dress shoes aren't "necessary" with a suit, and some school teacher do wear running shoes with suit for comfort, but they look dorky. Belt isn't necessary either, you can wear a pant with elastic waist. The point is, when you are wearing a suit, it usually is a situation that calls for professionalism or important events, and presentation matters.

i guess i'm in the minority, but i enjoy wearing suits and ties. it may be because i don't wear them often, but i get a pep in my step when i'm out wearing a suit and tie. if i had to wear them all the time, i'd probably get sick of them.

Because being called a loser feels bad, man. This way everyone wins.

That's the thing though if I get a bigger neck size the overall shirt is bigger as well. They start to get to loose fitting if I go up higher. I'm at 16 and already my shirts feel really loose on me while before while I was at the end of my bulk they were tighter. It's like they assume if you have a bigger neck size that your just fat.
Hi Brock.

You should consider getting shirts custom made for you. I have the same issue because of long arms. Nothing off the rack fits well without alterations, although slim fit shirts have been better for me. Maybe an atheletic cut will work for you? But try bespoke if you can.

To look nice, basically.

It's the only accessory on men clothing that serves no real purpose other than looking good.

Right?

Do they really need that many pins, plastic and tissue paper to hold the stupid thing together? I feel bad for the poor bastard that has to put the tried-on-but-not-purchased dress shirts back on the shelf.

Never trust a man who wears a suit for "work". It tells you that he doesn't do any actual work and is trying to take something from you for doing nothing. If every person who wears a suit for work was eliminated from the planet, the world would be a much better place.

What's the point of clothing? I mean, if we're not in nature and living/working indoors. I understand protection from the elements in some cases.

Ties are awesome. If you aren't wearing one, you're living incorrectly.

I fail to see how pocket squares, or lack thereof, make or break a suit. For some suits, yeah. But not for all.
