Whats the biggest "robbery" of 2020 in your opinion?

I absolutely do not understand why people call the Holloway fight a robbery. I keep on saying UFC fights are scored per round, not as a fight as a whole. Max won 1 and 2, but none of the other rounds is a clear Max round. I know Max is a great guy and commentary was super biased, but this was not a robbery.

I get that logic, but in the rounds Holloway won he knocked down Volk twice. That has to count for more thank barely winning a round, or landing a couples of takedowns imo. I think we need to see more 10-8 rounds in MMA. Good fight though

Ige vs Barboza was the most blatant one. There's just no way Ige won that fight.

Reyes vs Jones is debatable imo (though I had it 3-2 Reyes but some of the early rounds were close)

Max vs Volk wasn't a robbery but it showed the scoring system doesn't tell the whole story

Jones Vs Reyes. I get you have to beat the champ to be the champ, but i don't believe that just because you won the "championship rounds.'', that it should count more than winning the first three. 3-2 is a win for Reyes and i believe he won the fight. In any main event, championship fight, 3 round fight, if you win more rounds you should win the fight. A challenger shouldn't have to completely dominate a fight to win the belt, If you can say the challenger beat the champ 3-2 he should be the new champ. Where it gets tricky to me is in situations where a fighter wins 3 rounds in a fight but doesn't completely dominate, and the other fighter wins 2 rounds without a doubt by knocking the opponent down, ground and pound, total domination etc...... Example that comes to my head is Volk/Holloway 2. Volk won 3 rounds but didn't do that much damage. Holloway knocked Volk down twice which imo should be scored more significantly than just barely winning rounds. We need more 10-8 rounds in MMA.

Probably Tony lol.

On a side note, how the fuck is "Short Fuse" the last TUF 3 alumni? Dude should be renamed long fuse. XD

Yeah, but with the rules we have, it wasn't a robbery. Judged as a whole, Max absolutely had a better performance. I also get why people think Max won, but calling it a robbery is a bit too much.

I agree it would be interesting to give 10-8's faster!

Gotta say Jones Reyes, first thing that came to mind. That was bullshit. Almost Pearson vs Diego bad.

and Max won too.

All I know is everytime Diego fights in his home town he wins. I remember about 4 years ago he fought Ross Pearson in NM and lost handily, but corrupt UFC (judges) gave Diego the nod. That was my final leg on a parlay for around 3k. It fucking hurt losing like that.

Just posted, was just thinking diego / pearson. was awful. i say the worst.

It wasnt a robbery but I thought JJ beat Zhang personally.

We've been pretty fortunate, not that many standout robberies last year, questionable scorecards definitely but usually they went in favour as a split with the right call still.

Neither of those rounds were remotely close to 10-8.

maybe not, but a lot of people thought Max got ripped off. it was a pretty big controversy, even compared to my own pick Jones vs Reyes, i think a lot more people were bitching about Max vs Volk than Jones vs Reyes.

Awful indeed mate. There are many fights I disagree with and shake my head at, that fight had me throwing my beer and the tv off. Terrible decision.

That's because Holloway is much more popular than Reyes.

When Reyes lost the decision he was an unknown challenger who overachieved.

When Holloway lost he was a long-time champ trying to avenge a loss.

Neither decision was really a robbery, but Jones-Reyes was incorrect, IMO.
And Volkanovski-Holloway 2 not only isn't a robbery, it's actually the correct decision.

when you put it that way i can see why it wasn't as popular. the way i looked at it is that Jones is a long time undefeated GOAT that should've finally got his historical real 1st L. compared to Max who was a pretty good champ losing a close fight.

but being popular and young plays a much bigger role than i thought.
