aside from the least viable competition ever, why? xbox shat the bed way worse and the switch is basically a handheld - so niche it's not really competition.

imo, consoles moved away from what they did well (uniform systems, pop in a game and immediately play, local multiplayer) and ended up playing against the PC's strengths (needing to add drives, playing online, constant updates) - and the games were lazier than ever (mostly remakes/reboots or cheap indie games that are all basically moot as metrics).

the best games included... ps3 games (gtav, tlou), reboots, and remakes/remasters. and by included, i mean... were mostly. i can give a lot of credit for bloodborne (and remove credit for konami releasing mgsv without finishing it) and there are a handful of other games that were decent... but overall, i think it was easily the worst console generation.

Actually .. agree with most of this. I think you’re downplaying some of the ps4 exclusives but otherwise yeah. Kind of thinking that there may not be a reason for me to get a console this generation, especially if Sony does start releasing its exclusives on pc

Killer Instinct has really been the lone XBone exclusive I've really played and it was pretty good, prob the most underrated fighter of its era tbh.

Have Crackdown 3 and ReCore buried in my backlog despite mixed reviews because they still look kinda cool. But yeah, PS4 really seemed to have quite a slate even though I haven't played any of them, looking forward to playing them whenever I get a PS5 or just get a PS4 on the cheap if I go the Series X route

You should really play Crackdown 3, that game is insanely fun, just way too short

ReCore started out fun but I put it down one day and never picked it back up, cant remember if it got boring or I just lost interest

PS4 is the weakest Playstation as far as exclusives, but compared to all the other recent consoles it's far far better.

Goes to show how dominant PC Gaming has become.

I don't if the 3DS is an 8th generation, but it gets my vote for it's awesome library.

I only own one, so I have no idea.

The one with the Yakuza series on it...

I own the Xbox One its play is now mostly limited to kinect games with the family. Xbox One never impressed me much compared to my PC on anything and I only got it for a few exclusives. I think the most fun of that generation for what they were was Nintendo Switch or 3DS.

Voted PS4 as I do not consider the Switch to be in the same generation. Switch came out in 2017. Everything else on the poll came out in 2011-2013.
