What's going on with Khamzat?

"I'm retiring because I actually don't like to fight. Why people just don't love each other".
Khamzat Chimaev.

Wish someone really looked into it.
Is he suspended by USADA? Is he saying no to fights, are all the opponents saying no? Is he demanding more money, despise what his contract says?
Khamzat says he will take any fight. Dana says he has personal issues. What is the truth? Spit it out.

Secret 2 year USADA suspension like Jon had.

more likely on a vacation with a green light to do whatever. You can’t tell me USADA is flying to Dubai and taking his urine in a cup regularly. USADA isn’t real, top stars have freedom to do whatever they want.

No one knows. If he doesn't fight in 2023 there is something really fucked up.
I think he’s protecting his status a little. It’s funner to be talked about than to act it out

IDK dude he seems pretty dominant to me. You're talking about potential matches with Usman/Colby/Edwards/Belal/Shavkat at WW (assuming he still is a WW), would you pick those guys over Khamzat?

No I tho I he’s awesome at fighting I just think he keeps talking himself out of fights Bc the hype keeps building whereas a loss or even vulnerability isn’t fun.

So you think it's a mental thing with him? Interesting. I have no idea what it is tbh. Maybe opponents don't want to fight him if he misses weight, maybe he can't make weight, maybe visa issues, maybe UFC is mad and this is payback, maybe he's being ducked, injured, only wants top guys. I'd just like some official announcement so there isn't speculation.

Yea it’s really weird for sure.

I think UFC 294 is suppose to be in the Middle East and they want Khamzat to fight on that card. Middle East always pays the UFC big money to come there and my guess is he was requested to be on that card. UFC maybe didn't want to risk injury earlier in the year, then his Ramadan started in March into April and they sure didn't want to risk a fight in between that. I would say if he doesn't fight on that card then something fishy is really going on. I'm sure the UFC may have had some words with what weight class moving forward he'd fight in and maybe that didn't go very well.

All I know.is Khamzat is very immature for his age, whatever is the problem it's most probably to do with him.

The fact that you mention fighting '2-3 times a year' as some kind of success (TWO FIGHTS in a year!?) is the reason UFC is losing its star power big time and in a slow decline.

4 fights a year should be minimum. ONE FC their star world class Thai fighters can do 5 fights a year. In the UFC you get mediocre up and comers doing 2 fights at year if that.
True statement. The chronic level of inactivity from the guys at the top is crippling the UFC. Very few guys are active and fighting multiple times per year. It would be interesting to go through the top 10 in each division and see how often each fights. I would imagine that the average is less than twice a year.

I expect an announcement during tonight's ppv for a fight in Abu Dhabi. Thats 3 months away, enough time for a training camp. If we don't get an announcement then something is definitely up. I see people mentioning visa issues. Khmazat has brought that up before so I don't think that would be the "personal issues" Dana mentioned. It must be something else.

Khamzat doesn't understand marketing. You don't make yourself scarce BEFORE the audience knows who you are. You do it AFTER.

His brother recently said in interview that UFC wanted to make event in Sweden in May but Khamzat said that it’s just a few weeks after Ramadan so they cancelled it and now wants him to fight in October in UAE.

he is married now, probably has to get permission from the wife.

Just my opinion, but nobody's really talking about the possibility that Till being with him might've been a really negative thing for him.
Till is known to drugs and shit, so maybe he got him wacked out and Khamzat is dealing with it.

4 fights a year is crazy and an unrealistic expectation especially in mma where so many injuries etc can occur in training

Get the hell out of here man even 6 fights a year wouldn't be crazy. Soccer players do 40-50 games a year. Rugby players do 40 games a year with all that battering and strain on their bodies.

Like I said one of ONE's biggest stars Superlek is about to have his 4th fight and he'll have at least one more this year after that. The 'strain' on the body from being kicked in the legs, shins and being elbowed in the face is probably worse than what you'd get in the UFC.
