I can't find any deets. He retired from Sumo, recovered from injures, signed with Rizin and said he'd do MMA now but there's no more information.

Was it a one-time thing for cash ? I think the guys got a lot of potential, huge, really fast and not afraid of getting hit.

Last we heard:
(Bloody Elbow-Feb 10, 2016
Rizin CEO Nobuyuki Sakakibara is interested in an MMA fight between professional sumo wrestler Baruto Kaito and Fedor Emelianenko.)

That was never gonna happen.

I don't know but Baruto is one of the most badass names/nicknames/titles. Not sure why.

I wouldn't rule out Fedor vs anybody anymore

They want him back and said he is welcome to fight for them whenever but it has been hard to get something done because he has been doing a lot TV lately.

he is pretty funny. what is he doing for TV one of those crazy Japanese variety shows ???

You mean Karate Burrito. He's just standing under a waterfall punching stuff.

Kaido Hoovelson "BARUTO KAITO" would be a good choice ... the UFC is gonna need someone to fight their Heavyweight Bilyal Makhov with his 0-0 record. I think he might be a better choice then the ones mentioned in the Heavyweights unsigned prospects. Those being Amir Aliakbar 2-0, Michel Batista 2-0 Rico Verhoeven 1-0, Bontale Mayes 1-0, Arjan Bhullar 3-0, Masoud Ranjbar 2-0.

Baruto still has like 100lbs to go before he could make UFC HW

Possibly one and done.
Takada said he hadn't been training anymore.

I'm pretty sure we'll see him on the next Rizin card (openweight tournament).

That's a bummer. I don't know how much potential the guy has coming from Sumo though.

I thought he did a great job w Aerts. He was a Judoka first. But, I think Sumo can be incorporated into MMA, they do slaps and some strikes unlikes Greco Roman.

And the guys speed, cardio and strength for his weight was un belivable, he'd have an even better advantage against the cage where he'd smother opponents.

And he was fearless, did a great job of absorbing Aerts, tripping him and surviving on the ground and smothering.

He did suprisingly good vs Aerts but I think it was reported that Peter came back from near two year layoff and took the fight on few days notice after Le Banner (I think it was him?) pulled out. And the first mma fight for Aerts in ten years.

Anyway a fight with someone like Le Banner Hong Man Choi, Bob Sapp or Minowaman could be good for Baruto. No Wand or Fedor for him yet lol.
