I was skinny kid but on and off training and eating well im now at a whopping

5'11 and 150lbs morning weight, no clothes etc..bodyfat i guess about 11 percent or so...

Im thinking i need to be at least 170 lean at my height to be decent and at 180 look pretty strong/big for a lean guy type.

WOuld u agree on those figures? And how long before i could possibly get there with consistent training?

1. These threads are the worst, bro. What kind of answer are you expecting?

2. You're still a skinny kid.

3. No, I don't agree on the figures. 5'11, 180lbs is not big. You should be aiming for 230+.

4. Years. And more years.

180 big when you used to be 120 lol..man i aint got no time im getting old ill be 40 by the time im big...maybe i can be 170 in a year thats decent?

end of day a 5;11 180 fighter with 10 percent bodyfat is BIG to genereal public, not a bulky guy but big muscle and definition.

I got freinds maybe 250lbs 6feet tall but i wouldnt say they were muscular guys they just got beer bellies and stuff, so when u compare 180 to 250 it seems tiny but id say a 180 cut guy is bigger than a 250 couch potato if u get my sense of big

Lol okay, man. Your logic is spot on.

Good luck.

logic?

tbh im just asking how long to gain 20-30lbs lean muscle? 2 years consistent?

Your target weight depends a lot on your purpose.

If you are trying to be an athlete you need to look at other athletes in your sport with your kind of height and frame. (Assuming that this represents more or less what is optimal.) AFAIK in MMA a lot of guys who are 5' 11" are walking around (at the start of camp or out of camp) at 200lbs or more and then eventually weighing in at 185 or 170. They will still look fairly lean at 200lbs, because they are athletes. So your target would be pretty far under. If you wanted to be a runner or a Muay Thai fighter, you would probably see that athletes of your height carry quite a bit less muscle and weight- 170 or 180 might actually be quite a decent target. If you want to be a strength athlete, then 200 is likely very very low.

If it is just for aesthetics, then whatever floats your boat. Or whatever floats the boat of the people who you want to appeal to. Aesthetics are subjective and people like different things. Many men seem to think that the aesthetic that they personally like/are pursuing is the one that looks best or which most people like (bodybuilders think bodybuilders look the best, etc) but that is of course wishful thinking.

Personally I am not sure how much time it takes to put on muscle. There are numbers all over the internet but I would guess even if you have a number that is possible so much varies on training and other factors. And if you are a non-strength athlete you are not going to be able to gain as quickly as a strength athlete. Since you probably need to put on 20-50 pounds of muscle, depending on your sport, I am guessing at least a couple of years. Bottom end if it's 20 pounds, probably a good bit over if it's 50 pounds. Just talking completely out of my ass.

Only 20 more lbs. to go for me!!! OMGWTFBBQLULZ I'M GOING TO BE A BLIMP SOON!

Thanks well I mean i dont know what i want til i get there i guess. At 120lbs I thought 155lbs would be cool but even 160lbs and skinny fat i felt small. Now im a lean 150lbs and feel tiny. When i wear t-shirts people eww at how skinny my arms are and though i now have 'some' muscle when i flex the barbells its still like minimal muscles to see....I cant see how id ever have big arms unless im 180+ and cant see that happening by end of year anyway, was stuck at 147 for long enough even months haha 180 gtfo here maybe 165 lean one day...still ill be skinny when i hit it and mad

Gym is no problem at all..I had to cut down. I got a decent routine and working on strength atm as my weights are to low.

Problem is diet i just shooting 3000 now but i never know whats enough guess need to analyse after few weeks weight changes and bodyfat...BUt problem is not really how much to eat but eating. ITs such a chore, making food, eating all the time etc...

Heres me now

Dude...You're 150lbs whining about how much you have to make and eat.

This whole thread is playing out like the typical training forum stereotype.

Given your join date and this thread, I'm starting to assume you're just a troll.

Hmm...I'm trying to figure out your bodyfat percentage, but there's something missing in your picture.

Could you hold up a shoe for me, please?

I'm crossing my fingers and hoping someone will get the joke. There has to be someone. Hint: T-nation.

i dont get the joke bro lol please fill me in...thought it was as i was so skinny u need a shoe to see something?

Lol

whats so funny bro?

i mean how wants to eat often? do big guys natutally eat a lot? Dont think so its just genetics. i worked with big guys and they never eat all day maybe have normal lunch like a sandwhich, then at home i guess they have dinner..and prob breakfast before work.

but these guys 6'2 and 200+ solid muscle, not like they eating more than me. so its all genetics i guess...

Eat 8000 calories, then. What's stopping you?

Okay, so let's do a little calculation here, shall we? Trust me, I have a degree in mathematics, bro. I took Calculus 3 and Ordinary Differential Equations in college, homie.

At 150 lbs., 5'11", and let's say that you're 18 years of age, and let's give you the benefit of the doubt that you're living an extremely active lifestyle (working and training everyday.) Then your BMR will be 3300 calories. That means you need to eat 3300 calories in order to maintain your weight of 150 lbs.

Anything less than that will result in a weight loss. Anything more will result in a weight gain.

Now, if you really ate 5000 calories as you've claimed in your previous post, there is no fucking doubt in my mind that you would have gained weight. To make a claim opposite of that would be a violation of the Laws of Thermodynamics. Do you Physics, bro?

Trust me. I'm a man of science.

Now try again, Mr. Hardgainer.

haha i also studied maths/physics at uni. But anyway back on subject, I did eat that much for a long time BUT I guess my training was bad at time as i was young and ignorant and i gained fat so i did gain weight but not muscle nor strength looking back i went 120-160 eventually eating 5000, starting at 3000. But then at 5000 and 160 i could not get bigger nor eat more food, i just could barely stomach what i was eating. I then got back into soccer and started cardio and fell down to 145 and i guess eating less now more like 3500 as i wasnt planning weight gain at that time. I wanted to build my CV fitness.

So anyway i started again not long ago hovering about 143, im now up to 150 and gaining pure muscle slowly as i get stronger and stronger unlike last time which was just mainly fat gains. However, at 3000 calories i guess ill need to bump up, i think my diet was worse last time as well, to much junk, mrp, carbs, milk, not good for me. This time its more meat, good fats, fruit and vege. As i go for lean gains.

However, most days i often struggle to eat all the food im meant to, out of laziness and lack of hunger....Its the biggest problem. And its hard enough now at 150 so to get to then eat more at 160, 170 etc..seems impossible as my body struggles to grow anyway.

Just for a look at my strenght increase for example.

I could not even do 1 chin up when i started, then i got to 15 chin ups then added a 10kg plate now do 6 reps with 10kg plate etc...

ps- it wouldnt violate the laws of physics if you were overly active and burned more than 5000 calories to not gain weight haha

TS here's what you need to do..

Stop blaming genetics for your shitty size, If you want to be big then eat more. When you think you're eating enough, you're not, so eat some more. (Buy lots of toilet paper)

Stop comparing yourself to your mates and what they eat, what they do and eat is no concern of yours.

Stop looking at and comparing yourself to these 'fitness' models on the instagrams, because realistically you're never going to look like them. (I know you're doing this, don't lie).

Follow a good linear progression type programme, read the FAQ's.

Your body doesn't struggle to grow, you're simply not trying hard enough.

Grow a beard. (if you can't, then keep trying until you're man enough to grow one)

Problem with skinny guys who don't want to try hard, is they're always looking for a quick fix and the most convenient answer. There is none.
Realistically you're not even prepared to put in the effort to build muscle and get stronger, because you don't care enough about it. All the information you need is out there but you're too stubborn to pay attention to it.

If you start a log and begin recording what you eat and what you do in the gym then some of the guys here will be happy to help you. If you make threads like this you're only going to piss a few people off, especially when you turn down their advice and make excuses for yourself.
