Whatever happened to Jack Slack?

He's sat on an island somewhere with GSPonabicycle

He bought into the longo destruction technique. He cherry picks to fit a narrative. He can’t acknowledge when he’s wrong. He’s biased. And worst of all he had fans who quoted him as truth. He was a sherdogger. Who spent a lot of time on his posts. I respect that he tried to do analysis but he didn’t bring expertise he brought effort.
All true, but bolded especially so. Many years ago I pointed out an inaccuracy in an article he posted on Twitter (he claimed Aoki was the only guy with two gogo plata finishes in MMA and I pointed out Brad Imes also had two), he didn’t acknowledge it, didn’t change his article, and he blocked me !

Then a few years later someone linked me to one of his articles on Facebook, and the same thing happened again, with some other factual inaccuracy. The Facebook blocking made more sense though because I was also abusive and questioned his lack of dedication to facts over narrative.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story, eh Jack ?

Dude’s a hack, through and through. Not an interesting writer, more interested in his perception than reality, and incredibly overrated in his technical analysis.

His Reddit username is fightsgoneby

Hilariously picked against Fedor vs Mir.

Constantly tries to act smart when anybody with half a brain knew whoever landed the first big punch in that fight was going to win

Jack slack is a scrub

Holly vs Ronda
GSP vs Hendricks
TJ vs Barao
Anderson vs Bisping

Those are just several of the fights he predicted. If he didn't make a pick he would tell you exactly how the fight would play out in terms of styles clashing and he was usually right.

He took the opportunity to write an article about 2 heavyweights fighting and didn't sum it up as "first one to land" big deal.

There was a poster here a while back that called him out on his Z-1 level striking skills saying he didn't actually train anything.

After that, he left for a few years until the guy posted in a thread just like this one, which made Jack come back to address it.

He hasn't been back since.

Didn't Mir land the first big punch though?

Jack is actually a huge Fedor nut hugger. His take on the fight was that both fighters are well past their best and it didn't matter who won cause they're both shot to bits

He claims he is a Fedor fan, but all he does is bash the guy, even when he does great things. He reminds me of the trolls on here who say "so and so is my favorite fighter, but here is why he is garbage and was never any good".

Jack Slack had some decent breakdowns, especially for people who didn't know anything about striking. He was also a douchebag who refused to admit he was wrong even when evidence was presented. I lost all interest in his stuff by seeing how he acted. There are other guys out there who break down fights and aren't a-holes.

I enjoy his articles and videos, but haven't checked out his patreon . He isn't the Bible on fighting but has a good perspective and eye for the sport. I enjoy a number of different authors and content creators as it makes the sport more interesting to hear their points of view.

He was great when he came on the scene but, fatally, tends to do the same thing over and over again; he has a pretty repellent social media personality; and his podcast is embarrassingly disorganised to the point of being impossible to listen to.

The fact is virtually all of the technical analysts in MMA are as annoying as fuck, which is a shame because most of them make some very perceptive points.

I think that of you take all of them with a grain of salt they are very enjoyable. I don't always agree with Jack, Weasle, Dorman, etc. But they all.bring their unique background and experience to their analysis. Shitting on jack because he was wrong about something is silly. He's human, he makes mistakes just like everyone. I haven't interacted with him on social.media but he seems like a normal person: doesn't have time for haters, and enjoys a well thought post or question.
