What went wrong with Sage Northcutt?

It was impressive how fast he was with that mass.

Too much weight training, not enough mma training.
Boxing wasn't good enough.

Mostly his body couldn't recover enough from the weight training

Not exactly, think the guy had the skill and definitely the looks lol. But he managed his career bad and the biggest mistake was he never got a legit coach to check him. Think if he would have had a Mendez, Hooft, Longo type coach that would mentor him and not let him buy into his own hype it could have been a far better career. Urijahs been coaching him but idk think he needs someone stricter.

Good coaching matters alot imo. Well dudes like 25. So theres still time...
I agree. I mean, training at team alpha male should get you somewhere though. Look what they’ve done with Andre fili. I mean, they’ve transformed that dude in just a few short years, it’s been incredible. So while I think he might improve more with a bigger/different camp, I don’t think his career trajectory changes THAT much.

He talked like a real athlete should do with zero thrashtalk and did not hitted old mens at bars or wearing gangster tattoos.
Sage is an athlete and a bodybuilder with some martial arts background. He does bot have a fighter mentality.

He was a poser with a suspicious physique.. specially considering his dad was a convicted cocaine and steroids dealer.

Kid was never a fighter.. just a blonde american sweetheart that wasn't though enough.

He literally fought in ufc what 90 percent of mma guys wont do so so saying hes not fighter is kinda strecthing.

That being said he should go to university and get a good job (will probably make more money as well)

He was a flashy dude with no real substance that the UFC tried to push too soon.

He isn’t the first and he won’t be the last.

Yeah pitched into way to high a level too soon by Dana. Then that last ko is not somethingyou recover from quickly, if at all

Nothing went wrong. He was never that good. He was athletic but I could tell from the first time I saw him how stiff and unnatural his fighting movement was.

Compare him to how fluid someone like Penn was and it's just a world of difference.

Piss poor career management, big money expectations too early in his career, his skills weren’t at the level to match the opposition... Cosmo has had over 100 professional fights under his belt, Sage absolutely shouldn’t have been facing this level of competition @185 no less only 15 fights into his career... luckily he’s still young and with a step back and better match making may eventually get there.

Same thing that happened to most of Dana's 'prospects'.

Dana tries to force the issue, and overhypes someone for being better than they really are, then they get exposed, and fall hard... while Dana finds the next tit to squeeze dry.

I hear that Khamzat's the new flavor of the month

Hype over substance. That's the UFC PR machine at work. It made me hate him but then I found out that he was never really one to say he's an amazing fighter. It was everyone else who was saying that.

He was never good, everyone was saying this but people bought the hype just like with Conor and Ronda.
He's not a fighter, he's an athlete trying to be a fighter.
Insane that Dana lied so much about his future, then as soon as he moved to ONE, he said what he really thought and that Sage had no business in the sport.

Dana is a sick piece of shit.

Genetics more advantageous for lifting/body building/gymnastics than fighting.
