What should the UFC do with Ngannou's contract situation?

Chael Somnen who was never wrong says Conor vs Floyd selling well was a complete myth and it did disappointing numbers. The arena didn’t even fill out every seat. If that’s true maybe that’s why the ufc is scared to co-promote with boxing again.

Basically they'll stop him from competing for a year out of spite, they'll then release him at the end of next year..

He has evolved every fight though
that’s true, i will give him that. he had a hole in his game, he put in some work trying to fix it, and it has made a difference in his last 2 fights. looking at it objectively though, without reference to the present state of the hw division, it’s nothing terribly impressive. like i said, good, but not great. if he insists on pursuing a boxing career at the expense of his hw title reign, we have to be honest about what we’d be missing. i think the ufc (and sport as a whole) can tolerate losing a guy like francis nggano.

Co-promote with Bob Arum's Top Rank Promotions Let him box. Add some more boxing matches let a few more boxers vs MMA fighters fight. Let him get it out of his system make mucho-bucks and come back to MMA.

UFC doesn't care and neither do fans really. They will just let him leave or retire like everyone else and then call the next fighter the best and you all will love it.
The fans care, but there isnt anything they can do about it.

A union is really the only way this shit gets rectified sir.
UFC has followed Vince Mcmahons blueprint to a T.
First they bought all the competition, leaving the fighters with less and less places to fight, and get paid.

Then they started doing a show a week, and 1 PPV a month.
All done on shit contracts, because they know they're the only big game in town.

If fighters don't unite, this will continue in one form or another in perpetuity.
Will never happen. Unions arent a thing in some countries, and you'd need everyone on board. Some people just dont give a shit.

yeah those numbers are just silly everyone knows

Like I said though, it's the only way to stoo this from happening.
Whether it will happen or not is moot sir.

They offered him 7million+ for 2 fights, so the UFC were trying to negotiate with him.

We dotn know the specifics regarding the amount of fights or total value /details on the deal offered, but we do know directly from Ngannoue that he said if he accepted the offer, he would have made at least 7 million more from his last 2 fights.

Ngannoue seems to be completely fixated on being able to box under contract like Conor was able to do. I don't see him resigning if he truly can end his contract in December.

He can heal up this year and dedicate his training to boxing, then setup a big payday fight in boxing. He will burn his bridge with the UFC over this though

Why are people still discussing the contract and numbers, francis said its about health insurance and other things.

For me most of this fighter pay is pure bullshit, it's just a bunch on common sense ideas from people with really low knowledge of how free market works that formed on public opinion without real critical judgment. Just compare what UFC pays for all fighters total with the average boxing payments. It's just idiotic to pick the main boxing stars payments and compare with the biggest UFC stars, it's simply a different sport and business model. Yeah, I think some fighters can receive more and I think it's absolutely normal for them to pursue better pay, that's how a market can achieve equilibrium. It's nothing like this idea that the UFC is this absolutely evil entity that enslaved the fighters. Always doubt the consensus

Dana can't keep saying "this isn't a career, it's an opportunity" if he keeps having fighters sign contracts that deny them other opportunities.

I don't even care all that much about fighter pay, if their contracts are less restrictive.

I think the reebok and venom contracts are bad for fighters, but again, it's not like this is a heinous crime or absurd situation on the market.

Depends. Ufs is having bad press regarding fighter pay. Ufc wants to be more then a fringe sport. It is going to have to do better. Paul brother literally just bought stock and said they did so. So they could make changes from with in. Causing this of news articles to be produced. Mentioning ufcs shitty pay.

Easy to be generous with other peoples money. Do you run a business and hire people?
fuck off...being generous to the guy that bleeds for your entertainment is better than lowballing them...
