What reason is there not to eye poke once every fight?

You get no punishment at all and the worst that can happen is a NC but most fighters are too proud to give up after an eye poke despite it stinging like hell and ruining your vision

It’s against the rules. Seems like a pretty good reason to me.

I think if your gona eye poke, u need to do it proply

In general, I agree that refs don't react to fouls as much as I think they should. I think Jones is really prime example. It's ridiculous that they had to change the rules to deal with such a blatant cheater.

Yeah its sad but true. This was clearly a part of jon jones , too.

This is 100% the mindset of Jon Jones for most of his fights.

If the ref pretty much allows you 1 or 2 eyepokes before taking away a point, why wouldn’t you use those free eye pokes to get an advantage over your opponent?

Joe Rogan was right. They should deduct a point on the first eye poke no matter what. Because even if it was an accident, that still hurts the opponent on some level. I think it would prevent a whole lot of them if that were the rule.

This is a really funny gif, but it needs Glover Texeira. That was sickening.

Until the refs or commissions start to give a shit there really isn't a great reason not to start every fight with an eye poke and a nut shot.

Because it's wrong, and if it becomes clear that people are doing it intentionally this will lead to really bad things. We're going to start having a lot of blind fighters.

This. Take a point the first time it happens and magically guys will find a way to stop it from happening.
