I really don't understand people saying that's a small cut. It's huge and probably in the worst spot imaginable. I don't understand questioning this stoppage, at all.

People are forgetting that the bigger cuts they've seen are either forehead or brow, but that's straight up eyelid. Every time he even closes his eye, that cut's gonna stretch. If he gets hit in a way to make his eye swell up with that on his eyelid, his eye is in serious trouble. That's a very good stoppage

Setting aside that it was a bad cut, she gave him a warning and then Mig did the same - "protect that eye."

He was getting the shit beaten out of him. This was not a competitive fight, one guy was taking ALL of the damage, Buckley gave his post fight speech looking like he just did a brisk jog. That wasn't even hard sparring for him.

Colby and the sport are better for this. These guys don't need to lose an eye and get disfigured in a fight you can't win.

I don't disagree with the stoppage. She saw that it was a potentially dangerous cut and if it got worse, which it likely would have, he could've lost the eyelid. He was getting beat bad too. Good stoppage.

No he isn't. A huge cut on the forehead is nothing like a massive cut on the actual eyelid, itself, with that same eye also swelling shut.

That's an easy doctor stoppage anywhere but the bar in Roadhouse.

Fair enough. I did some research and apparently if the eyelid actually comes off it's notoriously hard to reattach.

You've heard of the phrase "hanging by the skin of your teeth"? Well now we've got "hanging by the skin of your eyelid," because that's exactly what was happening there. The flesh of the eyelid looked to be cut essentially all the way through, with only the eyeball-side skin holding Colby's eyelid together. Any significant shearing force at that point would have torn a hole through the eyelid if not torn it off. Good job by the doctor.

Dana may be right, idk, but cuts are hard to compare. Context, location, all sorts of things involved that may make an objectively worse cut OK to keep going with because it's on a less dangerous area.

Agreed. For most other fighters it's the right call, but dickwads like Colby or any fighter who's complained about an early stoppage should get the full Yamasaki experience. Let them fight until they're unconscious in a pool of their own blood, and make sure they eat a few extra shots to confirm they're really out cold.

At the point the fight was stopped, Colby had no path to victory. He was about to be down three rounds to none with no hope of a stoppage or a 10-8. Letting him go longer than that with that cut would have just been cruel, which would have been funny because it's Colby, but the doctor still did the right thing.
