What makes you proud of being American?

Hell yeah I’m proud. Greatest country in the world. We have anything anyone could ever want. We aren’t perfect but I feel we do a good job with our power in the world. We have opportunities for anyone and everyone to become a self made success if they work for it.

Our musical heritage. Black and Appalachian traditions coming together is one of the most influential cultural forces in the history of the world.

Our constitution and freedom of speech laws are utterly unique worldwide which is why it’s sad when they aren’t respected or eroded.

I also love the beauty of America and how varied each state is. That’s really the main points for me.

Nothing. Don’t get proud of things I had no part in.

I’m grateful to be from here though, and enjoy the unique place it has in history and the world.

Nothing more American than necroing a thread from 9 years ago….

I don't feel proud to be born somewhere or be from somewhere, but from individual accomplishments that most can't do. I suppose it's good to be in a country where I'm allowed to attempt to succeed and have an education and access to books.

Social mobility. I was born into lower working class and saw my parents struggle and work their way into the upper middle class over the last 40 years. I was able to go to college, work for major engineering and financial companies and then I start my own business. Now I have 4 businesses and almost two dozen employees that I'm able to well for the industry (which feels amazing).

I like nothing more to hear stories about other hustlers who made it, are making it or want to make the American dream for themselves.
