What is your single most unpopular MMA opinion?

That Ankalaev and Alex Pereira are better than Tom Aspinall and a bigger challenge to Jon Jones than Tom is. Alex Pereira is the biggest challenge (IMO), as he has a HW frame, can be at 243 lbs while being lean and keeping the same speed, while Ankalaev would be, at his best weight ~ 235 lbs, which is still enough to beat Tom IMO but I think vs HW JJ, he'd be a little behind. But I think Ankalaev is basically JJ's level, he's pretty much the JJ of LHW considering the JJ who was a little past his prime. I think Alex Pereira is still slightly ahead Ankalaev when healthy and I believe he will get that back by a close but decisive win vs Ankalaev in the rematch... as I believe he may be slightly better than Ank when 100% considering they were very close already when Alex wasn't that chama Alex.

Tom is good for HW ofc, even more so when Cyril Gane, who's the #1 after JJ and Tom, was a one round cut for Jon Jones — more like the Jamahal Hill of HW (not that it's bad, but Gane isn't elite imo)... While Tom Aspinall... Likely Jiri Prochazka's level or maybe Khalil Rountree's type of threat (accounting for the peak Khalil Rountree who fought Alex and showed the best performance he ever had there in a master class of striking vs Alex). I think Tom fits right there... Ankalaev, JJ and Poatan, near even...

I think Reyes' will has carried over to Alex Pereira. Reyes said he sees himself in Alex in the case both aren't ego driven, and Reyes said "I believe the riskier opponent for JJ is Alex, and like vs me, I believe JJ will fight Alex because JJ whether fans think otherwise or not, he wants to fight against who's in fact the best right now".

You had me enraged there but you saved it with the last one.
Lol.
Thank you kind sir. I don't mean malicious intent with my opinion. I just really think that.

The modern era of UFC is completely devoid of anything resembling what MMA should be. gone are the rankings, gone are the days where the unintended gate keepers fucked everyone over (jon fitch), the best do not work their way up the ladder anymore mortal kombat 1 style, and the fighters willingness to "go for it" except for a few, are completely gone. the intensity of the PRIDE FC days have long been done. it just isn't as good as before. but i will still watch the big fights.

connor fans era + beyond are totally delusional

All UFC fights have a pre-determined winner if they go the distance.
100%. to pretend is just totally outside of the realm of possibility, that there is just no way ever, a massive corporation, could just possibly incentivize some local state government employee at the end of the day, to just say a fighter won an extra point in a round, where they would never have to explain themselves, their decisions, knowing nothing would happen at all, besides some hardcores on a fucking forum from the 2000s would complain??????? this happens every time, the "new guy" comes up and fights the "established" guy still holding on. every time. wasn't their already some judge who was busted before?

That casual 'UFC fans' are the worst and best thing for the sport and it's fighters. They bring dog shit opinions and viewpoints, typically know jack shit, and flip on fighters in a heartbeat. Yet, they also bring eyes, attention, and actually spend money on the sport. While annoying dipshits, they are a necessary evil, as the hardcore fan is jaded, and more than likely broke or prefers to spend their money elsewhere as they're probably older.
tell us who you hate

Mike Goldberg is nowhere near as bad as made out to be and is much better than that boring monotone voice Anik.

Because Goldberg made a few mistakes in like 125+ UFC events it is replayed over and over, but thats less than 0.1% of his actual UFC career. If me or you didn't make a few errors on over 125 full live MMA events then we would not be human beings. Goldberg and Rogan had a great chemistry together, and they flowed well together and didn't talk over each other. Rogan is awful with Anik and Cormier and Cruz, Rogan is past his sell by date and totally out of touch with the sport now.. but I feel like when UFC was in its golden era those 2 had good chemistry and the events were so much fun.

I feel the UFC commentators talk over each other way too much now, this is a problem with a 3 man booth especially, however there has been some 2 man booths in recent times and they still do it a lot, probably because they are ex fighters are not professionally trained in it and yeah its crappy.
100% goldberg brought that epic feel to those fights and you're right, when they flowed, they flowed well together. a mix of the right sounding professionalism and then joe's kind of street smarts and some jiujitsu know how. goldberg wasn't perfect, but that UFC era was awesome.

the commentary today is so stale, sometimes it's like they're watching golf. and i still can't believe people pretend anik is good. fucking lol.

Does AKA have the rep of overtraining / sparring too hard?

Cormier had a long career. So did Khabib. Rockhold had a pretty long career overall, altho his chin was shot for the latter part of it. Islam's been healthy and active.

When I think of gyms that go too hard, I think of the Chute Boxe guys or the Blackzilians.
Khabib retired at 31 lol

No one will ever rewatch the Wonderboy-Woodley fights again either and that reminds me of my seemingly unpopular opinion there.

The first fight wasn't boring. The wind came out of the sails purely because it ended in a draw, went to immediate rematch (which people hate), and then the second fight was awful. After all that happened, no one really wanted to give a shit when the second fight was scored so badly that even the athletic commissioner said he had to talk to a judge about his score being inexcusable.

So the second fight was so shit that it  retroactively made everyone think the first fight was shit. AND it was so bad, that it's probably the most overlooked title robbery in the UFC

Wonderboy fought 10 rounds for the belt, won 6 of them, and yet never got the gold
I thought Wonderboy pretty clearly won the first fight, the second fight I scored a draw

You sure not the other way around? That round 4 in the first fight felt like it could be 10-8, but round 5 in the 2nd fight really shouldn't have been. Scoring it a 10-8 actually got Sal D'Amato a talking to by Kizer

Fedor is one of the most overrated fighters ever and actually sucked pretty bad. Most of his wins resume were guys who were never that good and he lost a bunch of fights to small guys and journeyman in his early 30s. Then in his twilight years when HW are still supposed to be good and george foreman-like he looked even worse, sloppy and getting starched by guys like Matt Meathead Mitrione and light HW Bader twice. His losses were all him getting stopped too not close decisions or anything.
