What is your single most unpopular MMA opinion?

Jones beat Gus, Santos and Reyes. They all started strong but as much as I dislike Jonny Meat, at the end he was just too good and had too much of will power.
And, as has been established, winning the last 2 rounds wins a fight, even when you lost the first 3. Ya know, cuz "will power" is the top scoring criteria

That non pro fighters and those who don't train fighters, have no grounds to give any opinion on combat sports. Similar to mma media who report on the sport, act like professional analysts of the sport but never competed in the sport a day in their life.

That fans of the sport should all go to their local mma gym and train for at least 5yrs before commenting negative on a subject they have no actual experience in. It's easy to make friends with your local known pro fighter if you immerse yourself into training with them daily.

Guys like Merab that have God-tier cardio and are well muscled and wrestle a lot do not make sense. He is obviously on PEDs and would not be half the fighter otherwise.

Some fighters respond better than others to PEDs or have access to better shit or have better intel on beating the testers.

If your best weapon is cardio in a sport where everyone is maximizing their cardio and some other guys are 100% on PEDs, but you still have the best cardio. But maybe did not earlier in your career. That doesn't make sense.

You should at least see some level of fatigue/pain. I think it was a former Tour winner that said he knew Lance was heavily geared up when he saw him doing the must brutal section of the Tour de France and he looked like he was chilled out having fun.

You should not look like that at the end of 5 rounds vs. Nurmagemedov.
This is why they got rid of usada.
It's prizefighting not a sport.

Potentially the best fighter in the world is not competing in mma. He's probably wresting in the Olympics, or most likely earning way more as a boxer

Usyk in a parallel universe takes up mma at a young age, how does he do? Probably goat
Different class of mental strength and stamina/skill

Hey, the best fighter Potentially is likely an nfl player or playing football/soccer.

So many people either ignorantly or purposely misuse the term "prize fighting" to mean 'the money they get' when there is plenty of evidence suggesting that the word has originally and really always meant it was the title they earned. You know, like how a prize works. Because being paid isn't a prize, it's a price.

What is your one MMA opinion which no one agrees with?
What do you truly believe that causes the most rustling of jimmies?
Remember, truly believe.

Mine?
Cain is more of a "What if?" than an all time great at HW, let alone the HW GOAT.

A shit gym culture with a grueling overtraining method absolutely and preventatively demolished Cain's knees and back, leading to a long period of inactivity and bout cancellations at the end of his career where he would have solidified his legacy with a Werdum rematch instead of his title reign consisting of him beating Brock then being better than Bigfoot and JDS for two years.

He comes back bald and gets blasted by Ngannou in 26 seconds with his knee blowing out (again), ending his career on a whimper, rather than a bang.
I agree with your Cain assessment.

Mine is that the skill level in the top 3-5 in most divisions has declined. Definitely the #1s.

If anything what's improved is the skill level of #5-20

That shouldn't even be an unpopular opinion. He was a great fighter, but you can blame Rogan for exaggerating his status as an ATG. I still think Werdum was a bad match up for him regardless of altitude. There were several match ups we didn't get to see and it's all speculation since his reign was so short.

I still think Nog was past his prime by then.
He was, plus staph in the first fight. I'm glad Nog got at least the Interim belt wrapped around his waist, but that later half of his career was tought to watch, always on pins and needles if he would get blasted.
I still remember the day they scheduled Nog vs Schaub. This was right after Brendan blasted Cro Cop and they were just going to feed Nog to this fuck? In BRAZIL? I hated the matchup, hated the week leading up to it, expecting to see Nog brutally finished...but then...

100% but tkoing and subbing him were super impressive to me. I just knew nog was going to murder him in the rematch and looked like he was on his way to doing just that until Mir pulled that sub out his ass.

That all fouls should be assessed by video review after the fight, and if the judge panel reviewing the foul(s) determines they had a material impact on the outcome of the fight, then result of the fight should be converted to a NC -- assuming the offending fighter won the fight. Repeat offenders (i.e. fighters with multiple fights overturned for fouls) should get DQ losses instead. The review wouldn't have to happen the night of the fights. It could be weeks or months later.

That casual 'UFC fans' are the worst and best thing for the sport and it's fighters. They bring dog shit opinions and viewpoints, typically know jack shit, and flip on fighters in a heartbeat. Yet, they also bring eyes, attention, and actually spend money on the sport. While annoying dipshits, they are a necessary evil, as the hardcore fan is jaded, and more than likely broke or prefers to spend their money elsewhere as they're probably older.
This is true of the casual fans for any sport.

E.g. in the NFL, if a team loses, fans jump all over the QB instead of considering the quality of the OL blocking, the viability of the running game, how well the receivers run routes / get separation / catch catchable passes, etc.

It's why some sub-Reddits, like /r/nba, are a rarity because people are educated.

It was. I'm still bitter he fought Barnett for the 100th time instead of a Nog rematch

Well, sure i'd rather seen that too, but.. at the same time, Nog being beat by anyone other than Fedor is Global news. Stop the fuckin PRESS HOLY SHIT

Esp since Josh actually HAD Nog in a full on kneebar at the bell.

Even Fedor didnt threaten nog with a sub like that. Barnett also dropped him. Might be the first guy to drop Nog with a punch like that.

Yo there is a picture of Nog running around after he won this fight, and it looks so funny, the Joy on his face. Let me see if i can find it.
