I know this depends on stages in a person's life. There was a time in my life when I wanted to be the next Ed Coan.

Nowadays, I want to become a great strength athlete who can do just about anything. But even though I still have those kinds of goals, I do it mostly because I like participating in the greatest hobby in the world: weight training.

Weight training, weightlifting, powerlifting... Whatever we wanna call it... It is, to me, a hobby that everyone should have in order to live a great life. I personally don't feel complete without doing it regularly.

I feel a little sad that so many people waste their times doing goofy shit in gyms instead of training properly. They take their gym memberships for granted.

Post 40s is to be able to continue the goofy shit. Jumping off 5 ft yoke bar, backflips from 10ft release point on rings, back hand springs and front hand flips over boxes, suplexing +50lb body weight sandbags.

20s was clueless bro lifting
30s was chasings numbers that didn't mean a GD thing in any world.
Now the mobility and dexterity matters, strength comes with it.

2021-2025 insecurity

2026 and on —- love of the game

“Women don’t care that much about muscles”

“Muscle don’t win fights”

Both probably true. I don’t give a fuck. I still lift like an animal 5 days a week. It’s so fun

I'm 38 considering some fights before I'm too old. Just the motivation gets me going. I always loved to lift though. But trough the fight ambition it is pretty easy to make myself train. I also feel better after workouts. I enjoy both striking techniques and lifting. And love doing something hard cause noone can steal the results from me or buy them for themselves. I also look better now. Though I'm not bodybuilding but going the athletic route. A lot of cardio and strength cardio.

1 - Genetics. Naturally lanky and skinny so some meat and definition is nice.

2 - I like being active and lifting is fun so its routine.

3 - I've seen how some of my family have gone out. All day in front of the TV, don't want that.

Good for you man.
