What is with the Khabib hate recently?

Khabib didn't move up in the UFC but he has 11 fights at 170 beforehand. He fought once a month basically not cutting weight. Even fought some guys who had 185 bouts.

Oh i know, i like Khabib. I was just pointing out that he said Jones, Silva and DJ never moved up which they all did so that was a silly premise for his argument

Yeah but 185-265 have always been tragically shallow. Even 170 get filled up by former 155ers.

Not saying Khabib is the GOAT (DJ is the GOAT). I'm saying LW is the toughest division so admonishing the title defenses of LW champs ignores the fact that 155 is just built fucking different. Historically the division where the skill level is consistently elite among the top 15

The problem is that Khabib barley fought any of the great fighters at LW. He spent his time fighting guys like Thiago Tavares, Al Iaquinta, Tibau, Healy, Trujillo, Horcher, old Conor. It's not like he went through the cream of the crop at LW.

I will admit Conor stinks though.

TBH Al Iaquinta is a better LW that Conor, and so are RDA, Gaethje, Dustin, Micheal Johnson, and Barboza.

Conor was done as a top fighter by the time he fought Khabib. Plus he never a great LW anyway. RDA, Gaethje, and Poirier are great wins. Johnson and Barboza are good wins. Annnnnd....that's it lol.

Some of it for sure is pure hate, but a lot of times it is caused by Sherdog fans who over glorify their heroes

I'm sure you remember the Conor era when he was at his best, the asinine threads that were constantly being made were borderline unbearable. There is even some fighters today I saw recently who look and try to fight like him (although seriously underwhelming in skills)

Hilarious that you intentionally didn't mention any of his best wins. It's obvious you care more about spinning a narrative than having a real convo. But I'll play along. Ignoring the fact that Khabib didn't pick his fights, multiple top LWs straight up refused to fight him, and he was injured for years...lets look at some of the people you mentioned.

Al is a seasoned LW vet who has been top 10 for most of his tenure. Tavares was got the better of Lentz and Guida in their primes and fought Khabib before rankings were established. Tibau was a massive PED cheat who has given the smoke to UFC WWs and LWs. Elite ones at that. Prime Tibau was a problem for any LW. Haely was a WW up until his strikeforce debut. H was on a spectacular run before fighting Khabib. His lone loss in strikeforce was to prime Josh Thomson and he debut into the UFC by choking out Prime Miller. At the time Haely was ranked top 10 on his Strikeforce run alone. Trujillo was a solid LW. Nothing spectacular. He only fought Horcher because Tony pulled outAnd Conor was not old. He's the same age as Khabib. He just wasn't good enough to hang with Khabib

Despite Melendez, Diaz, and Alvares all pulling out or refusing to fight him, Khabib still went on to beat Barboza, Poirier, GAethje, and RDA. The last 3 being some of the best talent LW has seen to date. Khabib has a great Resume at 155. Better than most honestly.

His reign was not as long as other greats but he was definitely the most dominant. There has never been someone as dominant as Khabib in UFC history. He barely lost a round let alone a fight.

They're all good wins except Horcher. Al, Conor, Edson, and MJ are very good wins. And The rest are great wins. Hard to come by better than them. Only person at the top he missed was Tony but that fight was cursed.

Aldo has 14 top 10 wins and 10 major titles. He's definitely top 5. Khabib only has 6 top 10 wins and 4 major titles. Thats not even top 15 if were being honest.

My pointbos that you can't argue how strong the LW division is when Khabib didn't fight the best LWs for the majority of his career. He didn't fight Tony, Bendo, Frankie, Pettis, Alvarez, Masvidel, Diaz, ect.
