I have never taken an Uber in my life, I usually cycle, take the train or get a taxi if I need to get somewhere fast.

From my understanding, it is like tinder? For Taxis? ... You have a normal, average citizen that can give rides to other people for money?? Is this a thing??

Man, this whole concept just seems like a terrible idea and a dangerous one. What if the Uber driver is a criminal? Or a potential rapist? What if the customer is a lunatic?? There doesn't seem to be any kind of accountability.

I also wouldn't feel safe having a loved one of mine (a GF or my mother) take an Uber. The whole thing just seems dodgy.

Also, I'd rather have my wife take an Uber than one of the old Mini cabs. At least there will be a record of her last movements and of the driver. In a mini cab/taxi there's none of that, hence people like this being able to get away with this shit for years..

Uber drivers are retards they piss me off

Id rather just call a cab. They can talk to me and get me across town. Every time i get an uber they take the dumbest fuckin route. Its insane how stupid they are

I take an Uber to and from work almost every day. I've probably taken a few hundred Ubers. Like any field of work, there are total assholes and awesome people who drive. I have to say that I've only ever felt uncomfortable once, and it was on a long ride where we got to talking and I realized my driver had a massive stalker-ish crush on my step mom in high school and wouldn't stop asking about her entire life store.

You don't just make your own account and start picking people up. Uber does a background and driving record check before you can start driving. Passengers also have ratings and the cars have GPS.

Regular cab drivers are strangers too, so I'm not sure why you'd be fine with them and not uber drivers. The only difference is price and uber drivers use their own car.
