What is the scariest movie you've ever seen?

I don't know the name of the film! It was a rainy day in California. The school principal had all us elementary students in the cafeteria to watch a movie. We were shown a horror pioneer film! I was probably in 2nd or 3rd grade at the time but I still recall how frightened I was on the wolfs that ate the pioneer woman. Being very young, it must have left an impression on my mind.

I don't remember this film either, but later in life I watched a movie about a group of lawyers that went around suing people, for fun more of less. That was a realistic frightening film.

I don't watch a lot of horror movies, but I'd say that The Shining, The Exorcist, The Blair Witch, The Ring and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre have been the scariest for me.

cousin made me watch CANDYMAN when i was 9 years old lol... Afraid to say Candyman 3 times in the bathroom still did.

This thread made me get on Netflix and watch some "scary" movies last night. They all sucked. Watched The Honeymoon, Creep, and I can't exactly remember the last one. I think it's called the bottom of the Earth or some shit. It was god awful. Creep was the best out of the 3 and that's not saying much

The Descent freaked me out bad as a teenager.

It's the scary fact that they're trapped inside a cave and they don't know exactly what's hunting them which makes it so scary.

The ending as well was horrible, where she hallucinates that her daughter's there with her.

Then part 2 came out and completely shat on the epic 1st film.

The ending of Insidious really stuck with me

The descent disturbed me bad
I'm super claustrophobic and I didn't even need the gremlin things to get rattled

I watched a lot of horror films when I was young (around 8-10). I was never really scared by Nightmare on Elm Street or most other horror films.

The 2 that stand out are Jaws (due to the music and camera work) and Poltergeist 2 (due to that old guy).

@Buff has a video of a Mexican cartel killing that can change a man's life.

I think when I watched The Elefant Man at like 12. That stayed with me for a couple of months.
Which one? I've watched so many.

Face peeled off, eyes cut out, hands cut off. He wakes up from being unconcious. They slit his throat several times with a cutter but he doesn't die. Push his tongue down with a machete so he gurgles his own blood for minutes. Video ends.

Blair witch tripped me
Out. Really the first of its kind and it totally threw me off.

They didnt even show violence or a witch or anything! Lol. Really good movie

Either The Exorcist or The Shining because I saw both way too young. And fucking Poltergeist was relentless.

But if we are all being honest, kids of the 80s who saw Nightmare on Elm Streets, and Halloweens when they came out, they were fucking scary.

Given I watched it when I was on acid 20 years ago, Jacob's Ladder thoroughly freaked me out like no other movie.

That was a great, but underrated movie!

The Audition was really disturbing. Stuck with me for a while.

The last one that left me feeling uneasy was Kill List. Even had a really fucked up nightmare later on that night.

Not sure which is the scariest I've seen. It was something I saw as a kid for sure, though. I don't really get scared anymore but there are movies that will leave you feeling bleh for a while afterwards.

Agreed. I like movies that are more subtle in their "horror" factor - jumps scares don't really get me - I guess they are called psychological thrillers, but for some reason Jacob's Ladder disturbed me because you never really knew what was real and what wasn't.

I remember going to see Blair Witch in a tiny independent theatre when it first came out.

This is when the filmmakers had the website that tried to make it look as if everything was real "found footage" and that the people were really missing - I remember everybody thought at the time that what we were watching was in fact real (I was young, forgive me). Watching it in that context was far more entertaining (if you can suspend disbelief) than afterwards when I watched it and everybody knew it was a "mockumentary". It was a great idea though.

the Takashi Miike movie? I went on a buying binge of his movies after watching Ichi The Killer and picked that one up but never watched it.

Lots of good picks in here. The Cell is another good one not mentioned yet. It fucked with my head.
