What is the scariest movie you've ever seen?

Watched that by myself one night and didn't know anything about it so I didn't know exactly that it had any horror elements to it and wasn't just a survival movie. So when everybody is going down a tunnel one by one and finally the last guy is left in the room alone waiting on his turn and over his shoulder a girl in 1800s clothing just walks past him

Yeah omg.. that scene was intense! I just felt like things were getting more and more hopeless the farther they went down :(

There have been some recent good ones. The Crew behind the Conjuring movies did a good job. The Babadook was creepy. But man Paranormal scared the shit out of my wife....she couldn't sleep for a month lol. Only thing that really stuck with me was The Exorcist.

The original Scream movie scared the piss out of me when I first saw it. I watched it when I was 11/12 years old and didn't sleep for 3 days.

Well, I now have a list of horror movies I haven't seen that I'm going to go through in hopes that one gets me. I didn't watch many horror flicks growing up, and I've been trying to go through the essentials.

Watched all the Halloweens, Friday the 13ths, Nightmare on Elm Streets, Aliens, Jaws (even the 3d one), Evil Deads, Saws, Cubes, the Lynches, the Cronenbergs, and Hellraisers. Seen the others I listed in my first post. Seen a lot of the gross-out ones like A Serbian Film, Salo, Human Centipede, Audition, and Hostel.

I don't care for boring jumpscare movies, they do nothing for me and aren't even interesting to watch.

Face peeled off, eyes cut out, hands cut off. He wakes up from being unconcious. They slit his throat several times with a cutter but he doesn't die. Push his tongue down with a machete so he gurgles his own blood for minutes. Video ends.

And there's me not sleeping tonight
Yay

Can't fuck with the classics

raw
The Exorcist for sure...it didn't help that I watched it as a child!

It's no doubt dated now and I doubt I'd find it very scary, but I've never been more terrified than the first time I saw Event Horizon as a little kid. dat footage of the old crew. Prob the main reason I never became an astronaut

<{monica}>

Came to say exactly the same thing: Event Horizon, the footage of the original crew killing and cannabalizing each other instantly after passing through the portal or whatever.

Other than it having an evil clown throughout it, what's so scary about Stephen King's It? The psychological aspect that it takes the form of that character's fears? The fact that it lives in the sewer? The true form of Pennywise?

The Conjuring 1&2 and Sinister are films I took home with me. Really messed with me for a while. The new Annabelle wasn't bad, either.

It's not too hard to freak me out, though. I go into horror movies, suspending all belief that I'm witnessing a work of fiction. I want to be terrified of what I'm seeing. Going into a movie to not be scared just defeats the purpose, imo.

lol, I was afraid to sleep after watching Sinister the first time. I thought The Grudge was scurry. As a kid F13 pt1.

I'm not a big horror guy, just can't get into it. So, I have to go back to when I was young for this but.. the original 'Night of The Living Dead' freaked me out when I was a kid. They really did a good job of making that film creepy. To this day it's still one of my favorites, doesn't creep me out anymore tho.
