What is the proper way to raise a kid?

I've turned out pretty fucking dandy so far, so I think when/if I have kids I'll just ask myself what my parents would have done when looking for the best course of action. if you had shitty parents, then I don't know what to tell you. just love them unconditionally.

get them into wrestling or music or both. seriously the best thing one can ever do for a child is to teach them how to play an instrument.

Damn right

My max is 3 toddlers.

Don't be a tyrant, lead by example. If you're a hypocrite or full of shit they'll know it even if they don't say it.

just let the t.v raise him.

My 3-month old son keeps staring at the TV if it's on in the same room as him. It's a pain in the arse. I have to turn it off if I'm feeding him or trying to teach him to hold things, roll on to his back, etc.

Don't let the kid be lazy, let the kid do what they wanna do to an extent, don't shove anything down their throat, don't be a hypocrite about what you say is right/wrong, and don't be be a douche to them or they'll do it right back and probably won't make for a very healthy relationship between parent/kid. I've never had kids, just my thoughts

I know a few things I wouldn't do from helping raise my brother.

I know I'd emphasize mathematics in their life from the very beginning but that's about it.

When they mess up, see to it that you have created such a trusting environment that they dare to admit to their wrongdoings. If they apologize, don't use their errors as leverage in future conflicts.

Be a role model, work hard, keep your finances in check, if you argue with your gf/wife/partner, keep it civilized.

Be generous but the let the kid know the value of money and the effort it takes to buy certain stuff.

Inspire them to take up a couple of sports, e.g. wrestling and a team sport like soccer or football. Team sport is a great way for improving social skills and your kid will also get good friends.

If he or she doesn't like school and think doing math is useless. Inform them about the practicality of having a degree or two. They might not know what they want to do but if they have good grades, they will have a lot more options to choose from. A degree is an entrance pass to more exciting jobs.
