What is the one fight, the one fight that stands out above them all, and why?

I will give three examples, with two honorable mentions and the top choice.

3) Shogun vs Machida 1

I love Shogun, the best lhw fighter of all time before Jones showed up. He looked beastly in 05' GP. On the other hand, I love Shotokan Karate and everything about it, and though some thought Machida was boring as hell like Okami, loved Machida before he came into UFC. This was the fight for the title I think, an undefeated fighter who looked invincible in Machida vs Shogun Rua, who looked like who could beat anybody in his prime, and the fight delivered, while lots of people counted Rua out due to how invincible Machida looked. It was a nail-biter.

Shogun beat Machida, and it was a war.

2) Crocop vs GG 2

This fight had an element that so unlikely that movies won't dare make this shit up.

A fan of Crocop since forever, his first loss against GG still gives me nightmares. In first fight, he didn't train for elbows then got his shit pushed in with elbows, which was why he got headkicked to living death when he got criminally stood up by Herb while dazed

He was definitely losing the second fight, but out of no fucking where hurt and finished GG with elbows literally inside the guard in the second, inside the guard of BJJ master.

That was the most exciting finish of all time, because of the love I have for Crocop, how much I wanted Crocop to win, and how washed up Crocop looked forever in the UFC losing to scrubs in the UFC left and right and the fact that he literally flipped the scripts on the guy who did the same years ago in a losing fight at that too.

1) "THE MMA FIGHT" for me has to be "GSP vs Hughes 2"

Used to be a huge GSP fan, and I guess it happened forever ago, but Hughes was a dominant welterweight champion who was beating everyone who also happen to have a win over GSP, who used to be absolutely dynamic and exciting fighter that was out there.

Anyways, it had a good build up to the fight, it was really the fight between two best welterweights of all time, and it definitely lived up to a fight as it was a good fight until an equally exciting finish, a head kick ko in the title fight by a challenger, which I'm not sure if it has everhappened before and since.

GSP was a absolute beast back in the day, who could do it all, before that tragic Serra loss took him away from us.

This one had the quality of the fighters, build up to the fight, drama going into the fight with GSP not being impressed with the performance of Hughes, the prestige of a fight for the belt, and a good content of the fight itself, and an exciting finish. It had it all

I get into MMA when Fedor was retired, watching my GOAT return and add another former UFC champ to his resume with an awesome 40 sec KO was awesome!

Hughes vs Penn 2.

It was crazy. Penns incredible skill in TDD and grappling. The way he swept and reversed Hughes was unbelievable. Given that he was a chubby Hawaiian and it was Matt Hughes he was doing it to. And then the way it ended. The fight was great. Even though I was rooting for Penn. but it’s funny. That fight made me forever a fan of Penn.

In terms of Dominance ?

Fedor Emelianenko vs Antonio Minotauro Nogeiura 1

This was the turning point for me in terms of being an MMA fan , and seeing Fedor who was never particularly physically imposing and wore a stoic mug go on such a streak was inspiring ,

one would assume he'd lose to big nog who was submitting everyone , and boy was that not the case , Fedor dominated an elite BJJ HW practitioner IN HIS GUARD no less .... this was the birth of a legendary run unmatched in the history of hw mma.

In terms of excitement ?

Dan Henderson vs Shogun Rua 1

Coming off his win over the incomparable Fedor Emelianenko Henderson was on top of the world , his UFC come back fight would be against Shogun Rua , a man that was destroyed by Jon Jnes eariler that year .....

This fight became the greatest brawl in UFC history , this fight was the battle of wills and both men didn't give an inch in which after 5 rounds went to Hendo .....

So many but maybe Dan vs Shogun and Wand vs Rampage Pride.

Maynard Edgar
Rory Lawler 2
Hua Hendo
Diaz Gomi
Cant remember everything rn

Shogun/Machida, either of them. After that Hellboy/Alvarez is way up there. And then id give a nod to Gomi/Diaz.

Khalib Starnes vs Nate Quarry

The running man and the automated 1 handed turtle slap chop were some of the funniest moments in MMA history

Crocop vs Fedor

There have been a lot of exciting wars over the years, but I was more excited for this one than any other and the fight itself was super compelling.

Fedor vs Crocop

The build up to that fight was something we never saw before or since. When it finally happened, it was like Infinity War, minus the death. All out battle with loads of build up. And it was truly the two best HWs going at it in their primes.

I thought Crocop was going to murder Fedor. Fedor proved, yet again, why he is the best to ever do it.

I think Starnes got fucked over by that. I mean, he was running, but in hindsight, seen more boring fight with two intact hands. It's not like Nate was doing a whole lot anyways, from what I remember other than following him around.
