Nate diaz career was made with one fight - Connor Mcgregor.

Connor took the fight simply because everyone thought it was an easy win. Much like cowboy he was suppose to beat him and then wait for RDA to recover. Nate beat him and then milked that win to become a major star. That win alone will put him into the UFC hall of fame.

But say RDA doesn't pull out. Connor never fights nate. How would diaz be remembered? Would people still say he was an all time great and hall of famer? Does his journeyman career garner the same respect as a jim miller or cowoby cerrone?

Nate would still have called Conor out.

fight just would have happened later

That Conor fight would always happen. They were already going back and forth since Conors UFC debut. Fans were comparing their styles all the time.

That fight was going to happen sooner or later.

everyone calls connor out. he wouldn't necessarily take it on short notice thinking of it as an easy win. he may have given nate his first title defence

I would say Nate is better than average, but not a HOF'er. Him and Nick both are as famous for their attitude as for their actual fighting skills. Lets face it, they have both lost to some pretty average fighters over their careers. They sold their brand well to the public, and made some good money for it. Has Nate ever even fought for a championship?

Lol

Nate Diaz's career in the UFC predates Conors entire MMA career ..lmfao.

To think Conor was needed for Nates career legacy is just silly...
His resume is nothing but recognized names.. never got a easy fight because of the Diaz bro rep.

There's no 20-0 no name streak on Nates record ..dudes been in the UFC since a youngster facing all comers...thats his legacy and its still true today

I think the point is, what’s Nate’s legacy without Conor? I like Nate, but he was what 12/12 before Conor and had Ben in the ufc for like 10 years. It’s pretty clear that the Conor fight made Nate. With all due respect.

He fought Benson for the title

Revisionist history. Lots of other people were offered that fight including;

Frankie Edgar
Jose Aldo
Anthony pettis
Uriah faber

All of them were injured or did not want the fight on short notice (Aldo).

the only one of those 4 who accepted the fight was faber, (they had a previous history with tuf) So basically it was between faber and Diaz. Conor chose Diaz probably because he's a bigger name than faber.

Henderson wrestle fucked him for 5 rounds IIRC

Fan favorite JBG without the mainstream celebrity factor that he has nowadays. He wouldn't be at Nick's level, but you get the idea.

Nate had 21 UFC fights and a title shot before Conor.

He would’ve been more active on his prime if he didn’t fight Conor
