This way the fighter can refuse to fight someone who missed weight, rather than rewarding him with 80% payday and a possible win. As well as ensuring that if you do everything right and your opponent gets hurt you still have a chance to fight an opponent that is pre-agreed upon.

Sure the replacements would have to be ready to step in and make weight but that would also encourage people to fight in their natural weight class more too...

This would be a mess for so many reasons,no way.So the potential replacements have camps and spend tons of money to have a tiny chance of fighting that night and getting paid?Ufc will pay 52 people instead of 26 for a 13 fight card?Haha nope. How would you even be motivated to train like a champ?I could go on and on with reasons this makes absolutely no sense,no offense,I like to hear ideas.

So I spent 8 weeks training for a guy like Ferguson only to find out the day before the fight I have to fight Khabib. That's what the issue will be.
