I'll be frank, the accent switching is pretty cringe tho. I don't get why she and AOC do it. It makes them look like assholes.

It's actually not that uncommon IMO. It happens at my family events pretty quickly, so I would assume it is the same for a lot of people when they are around it. My dad is from Guam and all the Chamorros have heavy accents since English is the second language. When we are around them for the day, it just comes naturally and my whole family will end up speaking with the accent as well, but not has heavy. lol! It is a weird transition for sure and I didn't notice it until another family member pointed it out.

It's probably not that much different from talking/speaking professionally in the office, but then out in the streets or around the homies, falling back in to slang talk.
