What I don't understand about Sean O'Malley

Btw id love to see Sean put on some weight in a year or two and move up to FW. How fun would a sugar Sean vs Max fight be? I mean at their current skill level I’m positive Max would fvck him up big time, but Sean is growing.

He has been in the UFC for 5 years and got destroyed against the first semi ranked guy he fought in a round. The checking comment is because he can't throw kicks without injuring himself. Betting against him against anyone of Vera's level is a pretty good bet. I think he will probably have success in his next fight because his opponent enjoys getting puunched in the face, but I would bet against him vs 95% of the top 15, which is who he should be fighting by now as a main card fighter.

Don't forget he has been done for PEDs before. I can comfortably say he will never make it past 15-20, which is fine, but don't call out top guys whilst refusing to sign and fight top guys.

He wasn't piecing up Vera at all. He landed nothing of consequence and spammed naked kicks until he got countered and subsequently finished on the ground in under 30 seconds...

It's not his only loss. It's his only pro loss. The guy lost multiple times before in his ammy career and one of his wins is actually a TKO loss against a guy in his first ever MMA fight when Sean was 4-2 at the time and still fighting debuting fighters. Ammy wins don't count for pro fights, but O'malley has only had success against guys like this his whole career. The guy is 6+ years in the UFC. he isn't a debuting fighter anymore.

He has barely any wins against fighters on win streaks at the time he fought them. Most of those had just rebounded from recent losses or were on skids. Nearly every single one of his UFC opponents was 1-1 or on a loss streak in their last two before fighting him besides Paiva. Even Vera had dropped a fight in the division up just before and was brought in to lose.

Paiva is a good win though, but even then O'malley and him were even until the finish. Credit were credit is due though and it's time to step up now.

His pay doesnt increase if he fights the higher ranked guy. He is laying the blueprint on how to make real money in the UFC. everyones first contract, if you are not known already, basically sucks until you win around 5 fights. He is fighting out his first bad contract by fightimg guys ranked near him, then when he is a free agent, after next fight, he re-signs for big money to fight the top 10 fighters. Its genius to be fair
