Social What hobbies have you just picked up recently?

mushroom hunting. take photos and post on reddit for ID. till pick some too to build familiarity.
Photography is a big hobby of mine. Had a mushroom obsessions phase snapping shots of them whenever I found them.

Not a huge fan of them food wise, although I love some sauteed with onions for a nice steak. Definitely a fan and periodic user of the hallucinogenic varieties....just an amazing piece of biology and effect that is very humbling.

Went full middle aged man and started building model tanks and planes. Want to build some dioramas too. That, and learning to actually cook well. Not really a hobby hobby, but I’m doing it for fun, so one could drop it in that category.

Nice. So much amazing stuff out there when it comes to models. The reward for patience and effort is amazing and a great hobby.

I'm with you on the diorama thing. Always been a huge fan of miniature and replicated realism at scale. Would love to get into something like this:

It’s so fun trying to create those things. The cost for nice supplies limits what I can do at the moment. Got back into painting, and went down the rabbit hole of all things mini recently, and man, the things a person can “easily” do nowadays is pretty cool. It does take a lot of time and patience. At least for someone less artistic overall, like I am. Still, it teaches you to take your time and concentrate. That in itself is a great selling point.

Now to get my kids to these things with me…. That’s a hard sell lol

I picked up boxing again (have trained MMA in the past but I always sucked at boxing) + knee surgery. Feels like the right decision thanks to a coach with great emphasis on fundamentals.
Hoping it helps me get my shit together too, training to the point of exhaustion and getting punched in the face rather than wasting my life away on substance abuse and video games...

I'd probably have to say masturbation. And by "recently," I mean the last 40 years AKA since I was 6.

How’s that working out for you these days?

I used to sell a ton on EBay from like 04-09, then the fees and the bullshit policies ran me off and I haven’t even logged on there in the better part of a decade.

I've been selling stuff on Ebay after I cleaned out my shed. Also, I'm waiting for summer to end so I can spend more time doing stuff outside. I hate the heat.

I get a lot of views and watchers but people just wait until you lower your price pretty much

I bought a weed-wacker and I'm trying to become a landscaping enthusiast so my back yard isn't as much of a fire hazard.

A hobby I haven't done in 2 months was watching films / shows. Now I've watched 3-4 films in the past week.

It's probably my favorite hobby. Especially watching with my nephew.

We're going to watch True Detective Season 1 next. I think he'll like it.
That was the first time I considered Matthew as a serious actor was TD. I thought he was just some nice looking beefcake that didn't have any acting chops.
