What happened to Tyson's knee? Why was he biting his glove (Scared)? How did he age so much since his Jones Fight? Jake carried him

Boxers always talk about reaching an age and just no longer being able to pull the trigger because their reflexes are shot. Almost every time, these old guys can pound away on a heavy bag and look amazing but put them in a ring with something that moves and throws back and they might as well be boxing the Flash. I was hoping Tyson was going to gamble and just throw some combos and hope they land but I don't think he had any confidence in his chances.
Yeah its called being shop worn. There is a point where your body just wants to go into protect mode and not want to take damage. Like it just knows "this is bad risky idea hot stove don't touch...cant let you do that."
He wasn't biting his glove, FFS. He was ajusting his mouthpiece.
Tyson in the post fight interview specifically stated he was biting his glove as a habit and due to his sensation to "bite"... Says he's done it his whole career. Mauro even mentioned seeing this when studying his old fights as preparation for this fight. I dont ever remember him doing it this bad or this many times. But thats what happens when you're 60 i guess. But he was for sure biting his glove.
Its his security blanket /pacifier. Which makes sense because he was probably beyond frustrated realizing just exactly how far he has diminished. Its still the same guy who has never handled adversity in the ring too well.

Mike was probably just teething. Linus in Charlie Brown sucked his thumb as a pacifier and carried around a security blanket. It helped.

Or maybe Jake Paul is that good. He knocked out Ben Askren.
Haters use excuses like Ben was an MMA fighter, or a wrestler, but he's one of the most decorated athletes in American history. The man won the Hodge trophy twice and went to the Olympics! Imagine what kind of competitor you'd have to be to do that. Jake is criminally underrated if anything.

Uh.. He even admitted it after the fight. Its' something he always did, especially late in his career.

Looked to me like he was injured and high as fuck. He's always been a headcase, I'm sure he was terrified.

Spot on. Ben Askren wasn't just a wrestler. He was a GREAT wrestler. People forget that. And he was a professional competitor. That tells you something.

Tyson will be back, though. We need a rematch, I think everyone can agree on that. Oh, and I discovered something: Mike actually had some problems with his balance in this fight. That is most likely due to alcohol consumption. Because I checked several of his other fights, like against Berbick, Spinks, Holmes... No balance issues. And that also tells you that he didn't take this fight seriously enough, drinking at the hotel or whatever before getting in the ring. He's learned his lesson now. He'll do much better in the rematch. 100%.

no legs - NO boxing. Whatever superman/superhuman you ARE. Legs gone, boxing gone. Choose other game chess, weighs, ropes etc. OVER.

A rematch makes sense. Let's cross our fingers that we get a serious Mike next time. Looking forward to it!

Didn't Tyson tear out his ACL against Danny Williams years ago? It's probably never been a 100 percent since then.

Mike biting his glove is just a nervous tic. It's no different than biting your fingernails without necessarily realizing that you're doing it. Usually it's an involuntary response to anxiety or stress. Not a big deal unless their opponent is able to capitalize when they're in the midst of doing it.

It's not about legs. it's about punch output. Tyson just didn't through enough punches. He will in the rematch.

Yeah, it's the fight people want to see. And Tyson has shown that he can come back. He wasn't serious for the Douglas fight and lost just like he did now, but then he got serious and became a World Champion again. I wouldn't want to be in Usyk's shoes right now, to put it that way.

Lol at trying to make this about age. Age is just a number. My neighbour is 62, and he was outside this morning chopping wood. That's what Muhammad Ali did in preparation for the Foreman fight. Which, FYI, he won. And Tyson looks stronger than many 20 year olds to me. He has great musculature. And if Tyson has BIGGER muscles at 58 than many have at 20, how is his age a problem, exactly?

Reflexes, ability to take shot , stamina all go as you age . This isn’t bodybuilding contest bud. Plenty of ex athletes from all sports look ripped still but can’t play anymore at high level otherwise you’d see all sports , not just combat sports , from tennis to soccer to lacrosse , still being dominated by old men.
