I just saw a pod cast of those two talking about their fight coming up. Was in my youtube feed today.

But that video was one year old. And there was also some other videos of them doing face off and going back and fourth. Those videos where even older. Like 2-3 years.

So what happened?

Did they just cancel the whole thing? Lack of interest?

Just curious..not that big interest for me either
.

Probably not enough interest in it tbh. I was hyped for the prefight shenanigans but I had no real hopes for the fight itself.

Yeah thats probably right.

I was curious. Because for a mma guy, Rampage had a good solid boxing style. For mma. I dont measure him as a pro boxer.

But in MMA i liked his defense, and his counters from his style of blocking. Rolling the underarms from a guard, turning into counter hooks

I'm not the best at predictiong fights but given their respective boxing styles I was damn sure Rampage would stop Liddell. One could protect himself and counter, the other couldn't.

Rampage claims that he thought this fight wasnt really going to happen from Shannon's end and gave up on it

Hardly anybody in MMA is doing that stuff.

Petr Yan is the closest.

Rampage at least knows how to catch & shoot. In the rematch Chuck attempted a body shot, Rampage's use of the cover-up allowed him to catch it on the tricep, and as Chuck was trying to circle out (with his left hand down) Rampage clipped him with a counter right hook. Walked him right into it. Chuck had a bad habit of not recovering his guard after punching. He either didn't bother to do it at all or it would take him a while to bring his hands back to his face. Of course Chuck would claim, "I just got caught." He always chalked it up to that rather than actually addressing the glaring holes in his standup game.

Yea I remember, Chuck's "I got caught" really got on my nerves back then.
At that time I didn't know as much about fighting as I know now, but I was eager to learn. And his "I got caught" didn't give me anything.

it never came to fruition because the promoters were allegedly bogus. it was supposed to happen in Qatar. there have been a lot of scam celebrity fights going around that have to do with Qatar and the middle east. allegedly a huge card was supposed to take place last year with Eddie Hall, Brian Shaw, and Mitch Hooper participating. John Wayne Parr was also supposed to be a part of it, that also fell through. Eddie Hall vs Hafthor Bjornssen, allegedly they did not get paid for their boxing fight, which happened in UAE.

Shannon said Let's Go Champ
But no one was going anywhere, champ. Especially not to arrange a fight.

Its a shame because the videos they did making fun of each other and having Briggs on Rampage's podcast were absolute comedy gold. Both those dudes are naturally funny and played off each other really well

Striking defense? Chuck's striking defense was his chin. And only his chin. Really explains why his late career downfall was so harsh.

Rampage just did an interview with The Schmo guy. Rampage is boxing Rashad Evans in April.
Shannon still wants the fight. The issue was the promotion or the people putting the fight together were frauds or couldn't do or pay what they said.
Rampage says he's interested in it after the Rashad fight. The aren't going to release the exact date for the fight because they say the UFC purposefully puts on free fight nights whenever former UFC champions try to main event a smaller promotion.
Rampage looks in great shape. But I have no interest in a boxing match between him and Rashad.

Chuck did have some defense earlier on in his career. He was even able to slip a number of Belfort's punches while moving backwards and drop him with a counter. Later he became much more reliant on his chin and when it eventually cracked he was getting KO'd frequently.

I find the Schmo's shtick annoying. He's a normal dude when he's not in character. Pretty sure he's still dating Helen Yee (big boobed Asian reporter). As for Rampage vs Rashad, I'll pass. Rashad throws more feints than he does punches. He made Jon Jones look like a high level boxer in their fight years ago and Jon's hands are pretty weak even by MMA standards. If Rampage vs Briggs is made though then I'll probably watch it even though they're both old and shot at this point.

Yeah its annoying after a while. I think the may be married or something .
Now she's annoying.
I actually prefer his interviews to hers. Lmao

I would guess the money is right. They both seem to be friends now.

I honestly don't know how some of these guys who were super stars can stay retired.
Fortunes dwindle quickly without income coming in.

well then my follow up would be, how?!

who the fuck wants to pay to see a 46 years old rampage box a 45 years old rashad evans? even in their prime, they both had shit boxing, as far as actual boxing goes. and now they're old and fat and sloppy and slow. how in the hell does this generate any kind of money?

i mean, you're asking that in the Jake Paul era of boxing. i think it's quite clear, people are fucking dumb and are willing to pay to watch a roided up youtuber fight a 60 yr old Mike Tyson. why not pay 2 old guys to fight each other? you already paid to watch 1 fight a guy who could be his grandson.
