i don't think he's losing to bums but i do think 5-7 yrs ago he'd have been able to beat JDM. he couldn't keep the pace and JDM's youthfulness and size pretty much gassed Gilbert out.

What happened?

Just like A Smith, Cejudo, Kamaru, etc. who combined in their last fights are like 1-758 since they started the podcast bs,he became a podcaster and is doing podcasts all over the place. They were saying he used to train like a mad man and since a while he’s barely at the gym. He just fights to collect an easy paycheck without putting in any work and goes back to his talking job. Easy life.

They even tried to keep him in the win column after his title shot by giving him old Wonderboy and Magny, and gave him a marquee matchup against Chimaev.

He’s had every opportunity. At this point, he either has to take these fights against up and comers, or retire.
