What happened to Mr Burns?

He made lightweight numerous times. I don't see guys like JDM, shavkat, usman etc etc ever making LW. Those are good sized Welterweights. Burns is a little small for ww, but his girth does make up for it a bit.

True, you do look better than you really are against lesser resistance. I mean I would know kicking air.

Im amazed you remember that. Anyway, I am not ignorant of it, I said it’s stupid. Resistance to knockout is due to brain vessels, not neck strength.
That’s your opinion, judging from the benefits of it across the NFL, NHL, F1, Air Force Pilots, Boxers, Wrestlers, MMA. it seems to be working just find.

I trust doctors over fighters. Doctors say resistance is purely due to genetics of the brain, and age, not conditioning.

Burns was never that good. He got favorable matchmaking in the WW division because the UFC wanted to have a Brazilian in contention.

Woodley was already finished by time Burns fought him. Same with Maia. Gunnar Nelson should be a LW. Kunchenko sucked.

He's old, but the sad Thing is that Every fight the guy had a justificable reason (to himself) só the fighter keep believing. This one should give him a definitly answer IF he still got something.
Against Belal he tore his shoulder on the first round.
Againts JDM he was winning til the knee
Against Brady he messed his Weight cut.
Obviously shit happens and there are no excuses, I Just pointing ou how the logic goes in the fighter's mind.

He also said that after Chimaev fight he got lots of diferent monetary opportunities and that took his time from properly trainning.

Anyway, he looked shredded for this fight, at this odds I did put money on him. Let's see how it goes but its kind of the end of the line

Would he beat his opponent tonight if he was in his prime?

So why do people bring up his age if every loss had special circumstances+

Because he is old. And when you are old you lose on the Margins. So shit that wouldnt prevent you from from winning a fight before becames a impediment now.

Btw, on his prime he would drown current morales, who is still young and will only get better.
Morales had trouble on the fence against magny til he hit a spinning elbow.

Strange fighter. Has a complete skillset but has a tendency to underperform against duds and overperform when he's expected to lose.

Khamzat cant use his wrestling against him so he forced him to slug it out

Bret Hart bought his house. Didn't like it. Had old man stink.

<mma3>

He lost to 2 champions and arguably the number 1 contender…..

I’ll wait for his performance before counting him out.

You people discard fighters way too quick, even with the age it’s not like he’s losing to bums.

i don't think he's losing to bums but i do think 5-7 yrs ago he'd have been able to beat JDM. he couldn't keep the pace and JDM's youthfulness and size pretty much gassed Gilbert out.

Nothing to be ashamed about his last 4 fights were all against the cream of the crop.

He brought it to Usman too, if I recall he rocked him r1 in their title fight

He's going to go down as one of the best to never win a title like poirier
