I believe said coach has been outed as a straight up conman. I remember specifically what you're talking about.
I didn't know that.
I thought he was legit.

Half legit. He was strong, but that's where the legit stopped. If I'm thinking about the right person. There's a thread about it on the first page.
He's legitI mean Joel Jamieson
What's your opinion on the Bench 220lbs for AMRAP at the NFL Combine? I've read the some coaches believe it's a poor test of upper body strength/endurance.

Yeah, I agree with them. Mostly it tests their dedication to achieve a high rep 220 and not much else. Which is information, but testing max bench and power would be more interesting, or a similar or heavier weight five reps every 20 seconds testing how many sets. With a different weight for skill Vs linemen.
That's quite convoluted!.
IIRC, Brady himself only managed something like 12 - 14 reps, so it's obviously not a great indicator of how good a player will be. And as you said, why have a fixed weight in the first place? For some of the lighter players 220 will be close to bodyweight. For the bigger guys, it's a warm up.
#rektSince 1987 there have only been 44 quarterbacks to participate in the bench press as part the combine. Tom Brady was not one of them. Not sure how you'd recall something that never happened.

You have an odd sense of humourHow many reps of 225 can the guy in your Avatar currently do, Jim?![]()
Does that surprise you?You have an odd sense of humour
You’ve made similar jokes several times over the years as if me and KK were close friends and his death really hit me hard on a personal level. It’s…odd, to say the least. How many reps of 225 can the guy in your Avatar currently do, Jim?![]()
You are correct. I obviously mixed up Brady with another NFL player who scored poorly on the Bench test of the Combine. My bad.
There was a DB who could only manage one rep. It doesn't matter if you are in the NFL you are good athlete.
