I think he is very unappreciated on this forum when el Cucuy just proved:
  • Extreme Toughness
  • Effective Jab Utililization
  • Excellent Recovery
  • Mental Toughness (even wobbled, I think he still very conscious defensively)
  • Unmatched Relentlessness (IMO)
  • Showmanship (very exciting performance, FOTY contender)

Agreed. People think it's some kind of mortifying thing that he got rocked by Vannata. I actually think Vannata showed that he's legit as well.

he's slick, he's tough, he's durable.

but khabib, RDA and alvarez all beat him. i think nate would beat him too, if he could be persuaded to fight him. no shame in that though, those guys are all monsters.

he's also such a douchebag.

Underappreciated for sure, Vannata is no slouch either, awesome fight.

Bad striking

A new kid(but where is the other?!)
Just because it's unorthodox doesn't mean it's bad, his striking is extremely effective and he usually hurts people on the feet before subbing them.

I say bad because he was getting WHOOPED by a debut fighter who pretty much only had time to cut weight until he gassed.

even at his most sloppy coming off of a bad lung infection he managed to pull it off. Vannata came in there and put on a great performance but Ferguson showed he's cut from a different cloth than most guys in the division. he looked weak and kinda sickly and yellowish. he wasn't his 100% self. i thought he was done for in that first round anybody else and it would be game over but he managed to pull it off. look at his fight with Barbosa and how good he looked in that fight. he's still coming for that beltch.

I woudlnt call him a douche bag

I think hes just both confident with a side of crazy

He showed what a exciting and awesome fighter he is, he is so creative with his striking and subs. Next champ I feel.

i doubt he was sitting around doing nothing these past few months the usually get guys who are training for a fight in another org. Tony was getting his ass whupped in that first round but he used his reach and jabbed the shit out of him.Vannata got eaten up by that jab like a noob with his hands down. Vannata is good and while we're are at it: what about Cody Pfister? the dude is tough has good cardio has decent strikes and ground game just needs to tighten his technique. there is potential in Pfister just give the boy some good training and a chance.

I agree with all the points you made, TS. There were negative points as well though. Lando found many holes in his defense.

Ive been saying this for a while now when Holloway and Tony fought on the same card. i said it back then both those guys are the next champs in their divisions. but when i saw him getting worked in the first round i was crushed i did not think he could pull off the win he was in bad shape but still jumped right back in. going for that leg lock while stunned and almost out is just mental toughness and heart proves to me he is the real deal. RDA took some shots and just stood there out of it. Tony took a shin to the head and just went autopilot to buy some time. gangster shit.

He showed he can get shocked, hurt and close to finished, then come right back, establish his game plan and finish.

That's champion material. Was more telling than a minute sub or KO would've been.

Yeah his chin is awesome, he takes shots flush often in fights. That Lando guy did well in first round but Tony was hitting him with some great shots too and did land more strikes. I thought Ferguson would choke him out early in 1st round, so the kid did well to last 1 and 1/2 rounds, he was becoming a punching bag in 2 round after getting dropped by Tony.

Ferguson beats Eddie, too fast for him, and too creative and crafty in the striking, his subs are very creative too and lightning fast.

I don't see Alvarez beating Ferguson. I think it would look a lot like the Alvarez vs Cerrone fight if they ever clash. Eddie might land some good shots but Ferguson has shown he has a very good chin and Eddie has knack for getting rocked.

I actually think RDA would win a rematch against Alvarez and see his win as more of a fluke (as in RDA probably wins 8 out of 10) than anything really and I think he would touch Ferguson up pretty bad and be able to control him on the ground.

Khabib beats Ferguson almost everytime though. Unless Tony can lock in that D'arce when Khabib is going for a takedown, thats really his only chance.

he still has a lot to prove. Striking seems to be the weakest part of his game but with that being said hes a very good striker. His iron chin and unbreakable will are his biggest assets. It will be fun to see what he can do against the elite. I hated him on tuf.
