I think Conor learned a lot from the fight based on his analysis of the fight in the post fight press conference. He basically said that he learned he needs to pace himself against durable opponents, particularly at a higher weight class. Basically, he unloaded everything on Diaz's chin with full power and gassed himself out since Nate's chin held up. He acknowledged his mistakes, which is a great sign. He turned off the persona and spoke the truth about his performance and what he needs to learn from it.
I have nothing but respect for Conor. If all of the champions are A students, Conor went for extra credit and bombed. But he is still an A student like the rest of the champions. In fact, maybe he's A+ since he had the guts to challenge himself and take a risk.
