what does an armbar feel like

Many subs don't really cause much pain, but the awareness of impending injury typically causes you to fight against the "lock-out" with as much muscle as you can.

An armbar doesn't really hurt much more than a good stretch, at least until you start tearing muscle or tendon. The arm will be weaker immediately afterwards, and any tendon stretching (and/or tearing) will result in pain that will last for several months.

Actually the armbar DOES hurt. Ever had an instructor, or higher ranked guy put you in a tight armbar, the kind where there is no space inbetween their hips and your body, and your arm is already extended before they even crank it.

If you have, then you know that shit hurts.

Just bends your elbow backwards man. Hurts like hell if someone really cranks it, and its a scary feeling. There's no pulling at all. You're arching your hips into his elbow. The shoulder is not involved.

the best way to describe the feeling of an armbar is the realization in your mind of how very possible it would be for that guy to snap your arm with his hips.
