Crime What did the cops do wrong today Megathread Vol. 6 ? (who knows, lots of cop threads)

Baton Rouge PD's plainclothes unit gets outed for running a CIA-style black site, and it barely makes a blip in the national news.

Yeah this is insane, torture chamber.

Cops don't understand what "I'm paralyzed" means:

I can't believe they train them to not know what being paralyzed is at academy. Freaking hive minds ..

This is just an observation but it seems like a good number of police distinctly lack empathy. I saw another video where they demanded a paralyzed guy get out of his car and when he kept saying "I can't"...they got upset, not empathetic to his handicap.

Also you can find plenty of videos where they beat the sh*t out of someone, then tell that person to stop being dramatic when the person tells them they are injured. There was that one guy they had in the back of the van, they hit the brakes and his head hit the wall (he was handcuffed). They broke his neck and when they got to the station they kept telling him to stand up and that he was faking, and were making fun of him.

His neck was broken. He could no longer move.

Imagine how many of this sort were never caught before cell phone cameras became ubiquitous.
While I support police that actually uphold the constitution, cops like this need to be held accountable and face the punishment for the charges they fabricated. Lie and set a guy up for attempted murder? Then they should be tried for attempted murder.

Here's one for you dog lovers. Family dog gets hit by car, entire Family loads up and rushes bleeding dog towards vet, Cop flips on lights to pull them over and gets so upset at them taking 30 seconds he pulls his gun on the whole Family and when the distraught Dad explains they have a dying dog, Cop literally said "I dont f*ckin care." They were going to release them until the Dad said he was going to complain, then they arrested him...the dog didnt make it:

I care about my dogs more than most people, so they'd have had to shoot me to keep from getting my dog to the damn vet.
This video enraged me. Like blood boiling pissed.

Have you seen how often US Police murder family dogs just because they are "scared"...which translates to because they felt like it?

I'm not a dog person but Im with you. If this was my kid I'd have been shot by that Cop probably because I would have just ignored his gun, said my kid is dying, got in my car and kept driving. The fact that they wanted to lecture the Family about traffic laws and arrest the Dad for being understandably irritated is reprehensible. ANY Cop worth their weight in toys they carry would have provided an escort.

Yeah, unfortunately. Back in the day was living in St. Louis, Michigan, and the cops there shot someone's golden retriever, IN A FENCED IN YARD!!! I pray nothing like that happens to my family, because I WILL shoot them fuckers, regardless of how shiney that badge is!

I actually agree with you for once. He should have provided and escort. I am an animal person. I can’t stand to see them hurt. I catch and release insects that I find in the house or my office. I have been bitten several times on the job and never drew my gun, even when being attacked. I had a woman being attacked by two Rottweilers going after her dog. Not that it would have been a tactically wise shoot for fear of hitting the woman, I would have been justified. But instead, I activated my taser and did an arc display and the sound scared them away for a moment while I stood between them and the woman. Then they charged and they got pepper sprayed.

During my time on my department, I think 4-5 dogs were shot.

One was a mercy killing after one got hit by a car and was requested by the family.

One was a rabid dog that was attacking people in an alley. The white trash family that we had to deal with my entire career names this black lab something that rhymes with trigger and they used to call it in at night, did so loudly, and laughed when they did it. This was in a urban residential area, and some of their neighbors were black and used to complain about them naming the dog that and calling it in. They also had another dog named hitler.

One was an aggressive dog that had been completely banned from the city because it kept getting out, killing cats and other dogs, attacking people. On the day it was shot, it attacked a mailman and he had to climb on a vehicle to get away from it. The officer knew exactly where to find it and when he went to the house, it came off the porch and charged him, so he shot it. The family and community of course, protested and lied about the circumstances, even claiming the dog was not aggressive and was on the porch. Only the officer and the mailman witnessed it. Officers and especially the k-9s lives were threatened and it was turned into a big race issue.

The last one was a pit that broke out of its house and tore open a screen door and ran into the neighbors house, killed her cat and ran outside with it. When the officer arrived, it was guarding its kill and then it came at him and he shot, but didn’t kill it. The dog lived, but once again, the officers and their dogs and families were threatened, including international threats from people in Europe. It was my job to monitor the comments on fb and determine if any of the threats were realistic or something to worry about. Only two or three were concerning. One guy threatened to find out which officer shot the dog and said he would make a false call when the officer was working and lure him into a trap. Another guy threatened to find officers’ homes and if they had dogs, he planned to kill them. And one female said she was going to poison some meat and feed it to out k-9a.

The best part is the girl that owned the rabid dog that was named something that rhymes with trigger, started commenting, slamming the department and claiming that we murdered her dog while it was in its yard, which was 100% a lie. So, under my fake account, I commented to her “oh, that’s terrible! What was the poor baby’s name?” I never got a response-winder why.

I have no use or respect for any officer that “fears for his life” and shoots a family pet unless it is very aggressive and actively attacking them or someone else.

Easy with the boot-licking.

I condemn the entire atmosphere of policing. I condemn the fact that the Supreme Court ruled that they are not legally obligated to "protect"...because they're scared. I condemn that they often blame victims they shoot...also because they're scared.

What I have said, am saying, and will continue to say is that their training sucks, it doesnt work well, and the money needs to be spent on BETTER training. You objected to that after saying to just throw more money at the problem like they dont already get the lion's share of City and Town budgets.

I'll call out when they fuck up so your attempted insult falls short. But that's all you got when your bullshit hypocrisy is called out. Which I did on the warrior mind set.

More training means more time off the street which requires more police and more money and that's just the start.

I appreciate your input and thoughtfulness in hour duties. Wish there was a lot more of that.

There are plenty of people who fancy themselves critical of police, until you suggest that the culture of policing needs to change and that the "Warrior Cop" nonsense needs to stop. Then they respond the way you did...they oppose that and just suggest giving them more money for more training as opposed to better training.

Take that mentality with other concepts so you can grasp how that sh*t sounds. You ever see horrible boxing Coaches who Coach with their egos and tell their fighters nonsense about how macho they need to be? How they need to never complain when hurt or whatever? In 10+ years in gyms in Vegas that kind of Coach ALWAYS gets at least one kid seriously hurt. At my old gym one guy put a 17 year-old kid in to spar a 23 year-old guy who had been boxing since he was 6 or so, and that 17 year-old got sh*t-kicked. The Coach told him it was good for him, "that's how you learn." I have that incident on video, I was just starting as a Coach.

Now that Coach would always advertise his 35+ years of training under so-and-so, and if that was true then the problem is how HE was trained. So MORE training isnt going to do much there if it's in the same vein. He needs different training which is what I was saying earlier. Otherwise he just continue to have the fact that hes a danger to his students reinforced.

I dont think more money and more training helps the problem if the underlying culture of the job isnt changed. And I have no tolerance for the idea that people patrolling our streets need to be "Warriors"...in a social climate where the highest f*ckin Court in our Country deemed theh are NOT obligated to actually protect us. Anything that tolerates that nonsense is boot-licking by my book, because you affirm the idea that Cops can treat us as their enemy from the onset, that they have no obligation to protect the citizenry, and that they're not here to help us, they're here to punish us.

F*ck that.

In regards to the "warrior" mentality. We need them to have that, BUT, they need to be able to control it, and only have that mindset in very certain circumstances.... or we risk more incidents like Uvalde.
But in general, they should be there to protect and SERVE. Not patrol and harass. Which is a reason I feel stuff like unmarked police cars used for patrolling (not undercover work) should be banned. That vehicle is not being used to serve the public.

Uvalde has a big budget, I'd bet my hat they're already "Warrior" trained. There's more to Grossman's Warrior schtick than just willingness to engage, that's what makes it seem palatable. If you watch any of his full seminars they're incredibly weird. He talks about officers getting sexually aroused from using violence. He literally tells his audience "you fight violence, what do you fight it with? Superior violence. You are violent people, you use righteous violence , and you must master violence."

This is the #1 Police trainer in the US, and many others just clone this nonsense. He is a religious zealot, and uses his former Military credentials to garner audiences with Police to program them with this crap. I went to school initially for film and was very interested in psychology at the time, so I took every psychology elective the school offered. At a film school much of the study we did was on propaganda, how advertising and films effect people's minds. These guys' language sets off lots of alarm bells. Saying "superior violence" and "feel good"...also tying "intense sex after" into it as a "benefit of the job." Theres a group of people who talk like this, they're called cult leaders. They convince groups of people of their own superiority, convince them that feeling that way is fine and will bring them bliss, as long as they behave a certain way.

Then we wonder why Cops feel they dont need to obey laws themselves, might see everyone not inside their group as threats, and might feel perfectly fine holding a family trying to get their dying dog to the vet at gunpoint.

Yeah, I've never listened to him, was just speaking more in general terms. That definitely sounds like some weird cult shit.
I think my idea of a "Warrior mentality" and his are way different lol. Imo a Warrior will lay down his life to protect the innocent, to these fucks a Warrior shoots a family pet because he's scared....

Well, going by these guys' words a "Warrior" is someone who believes they are employed (by God, not merely PD's), to thwart violence with violence. To kill, and then justify it later. And by justify it later I mean the circumstances, as they already feel that deciding to kill CANNOT be a mistake they made.
