Social What Country Should I Visit?

I was planning a trip to Italy back in 2020 but it fell through (thanks plandemic) but I’m finally ready to fly over an ocean.

My top destinations are:
Italy
Greece
Japan
Thailand
Vietnam

However, I’ve heard stories about Prague and Budapest being some dope places to visit. Also, Iceland is slowly becoming a top destination over the years.

Any suggestions from my world travelers on here?
I've been to every place you mentioned except Greece and Iceland.

I very much liked the vibe in Prague, very friendly people.

I don't have any desire to go to Greece though.

Ha, I also wanted to visit Italy in 2020.
Now I hope that the war ends before Italy gets turned into an African majority country.

Greece is nice, it has cool places to visit and nice sea resorts.

All my friends who visited Japan loved it. Haven't been there myself yet.

Thailand is nice, just don't go to Pattaya unless you are a ladyboy admirer.

Vietnam is cheap and has some beautiful scenery. Both Vietnam and Thailand also have best fruits in the world.

Budapest is a beautiful city. Don't go if you like diversity in the modern sense, otherwise you'll love it. Beautiful architecture, great night life, good food. Thermal springs are really nice too.

Iceland has always been a cool place to visit, nature unlike anywhere else. But a lot more expensive than some other options you mentioned.

Define what type of trip you want, then it’ll be clearer which destination is best. And your ethnic background will make a big difference too. Language abilities as well. For example:

Italy is fairly racist towards Black people, and all of Asia isn’t a fan either (that’s why women there stay out of the sun). People in Italy and Greece will be able to speak some English, but in Japan and Vietnam much less. So if your dream is to have ladies in awe, then go to the UK if you’re American, for example. They’ll find your accent cool, there will be lots of different ethnicities, etc. You can even take a train from London to Paris for a two-day visit to a completely different country, language and culture.

Another aspect is “hitting the wall” with ladies in Asia. I don’t mean the age definition. Look it up or DM me. It’s real and it’s not fun. I was warned about it but didn’t believe it was a thing until I spent 15 years in Asia. And I’m average.

Or let’s say you want to feel completely disorientated in a very foreign culture. Then Japan is a good choice, but try to go outside of Tokyo. The countryside is a different world from the big city and something you will experience nowhere else. Nothing will be in English, everything will have a local feel…people will be curious about you, and some will go out of their way to help you and talk to you.

If you want “commercial” hookups, then no country will be like Thailand. They literally have entire streets of bars just for that. Due to the history of US servicemen stationed there, they are very used to American men of various types. It’s super easy. In Japan, a lot of those places don’t even accept foreigners (because the staff don’t want to deal with a different language, people who may not understand the local system, etc.).

If you want to see historical architecture and enjoy real pasta and pizza and the best ice cream in the world, then Italy can be cool for a few days.

Etc.

So define what you really want to experience most, and who you are (age, ethnicity, etc.), then there will be places that will be spot-on for you.

Depends on what you’re going for. I been to all those except Vietnam. Completely different countries. From price, to infrastructure and weather. Personal ideas of a great vacation are very important to consider before saying go here.

Vietnam would be mine because I haven’t been there. Personally my list of countries I been to are

Japan-expensive but not too bad since the yen isn’t doing too well. Very easy to get anywhere and people are very nice and chill. Definitely the top if you want creature comforts but still feel that intense culture shock of an Asian country.

Greece-Cheap for Europe. Tons of character and historical sites. Beautiful, but a bit dirty. That didnt bother me though. This is a great place to feel history in my streets but not a place that doesn’t feel somewhat modern.

Thailand-Cheap, but the trip is a devil. Force yourself to stay awake to avoid some jet lag or you will waste a day or so being very sluggish. Very very very hot and sticky. You will be a sweaty pig no matter what. Bangkok is a hellscape imo, and you get bombarded at almost every turn by what some would call “degenerates”… Nice if you’re a young guy, but I would go to the islands in the south again instead. Stay away from the border with Cambodia, so only southwest islands.

Italy-beautiful, but can be pricey. Great people who will absolutely chat with you. Very gregarious people like us Americans in a way. Food is hard to beat. You can take a ship and cruise around the Mediterranean too, which is simply stunning as you go east towards Greece.

Damn, I’ve heard stories of Black soccer players getting taunted with racial slurs at games so I’ve always been weary. My Black American arse may feel some of the same. Good to know. I still want to try some of that awesome Italian food though

Japan still seems like a good option. I do want to explore outside of Tokyo but I want to meet Bow Wow and that hick from the Fast and Furious movie

Commercial hook ups aren’t a top priority for me traveling (Online dating in America works just fine) but knowing the ‘right’ places to go is a must lol

Amsterdam was a top pick when I was in my 20s. I’m getting old but if you’ve gone that much, it must be pretty dope

Go to Asia, man. Bask in the chaos and cheap booze and food. You can go to Vietnam and Thailand for the same cost as Japan, and you don’t really have to rough it. Hotels in Danang for like 15 bucks a night on the water. Beach Resorts in Koh Chang for 20 a night.

Edit; Last thing. Use some AI of your choice to narrow it all down. It is a good source for early research. Using it myself to compare 3 week itineraries for several countries I am considering going to this year. If you are budget-orientated, look for countries with a dip in their currency, if you are looking at more modern countries. Anywhere in SEA will be dirt cheap. Help your dollar however you can.
