I had to get hernia surgery last November and it tooks 3 week from initial appointment to the day of surgery.

The US System has issues... big issues. And it got much worse after Obamacare and premiums exploded by 3x-4x more. But Universal Healthcare is a fucking disaster.

In the last 10 years roughly $120, 000 of my taxes have gone to healthcare. In that time I have gotten three stiches.

I took my mom to ER last Sunday for a broken shoulder. In and out in about 3 hours. Follow up a week later and already on the mend. 0 bills.

On the flip I went last year for breathing issues. 8 hours. If they're investigating what's wrong your in for a wait. If its clearcut your not .

With that said, we bring in all these people from impoverished countries with poor health that use our emergency services as their initial point of care . Its a disaster waiting to happen. Our system is not great to begin with and we just exasperate the problem.

Every place has its problems, but any country that has universal healthcare is way ahead of us in a big way (so every developed nation on the planet), never mind paid time off by law, paid maternity/paternity leave, better infrastructure, etc. The US is headed down the 2nd or 3rd world road, we'll see if we can reverse course.
