International What country is doing things right?

Every place has its problems, but any country that has universal healthcare is way ahead of us in a big way (so every developed nation on the planet), never mind paid time off by law, paid maternity/paternity leave, better infrastructure, etc. The US is headed down the 2nd or 3rd world road, we'll see if we can reverse course.

That's one of the probelms they talked about on the Switzerland video. They're broke and are having a hard time trying to find money to pay for social services like universal healthcare.

On the subject of healthcare. One guess as to which country has the best ranked healthcare in the world and the longest life expectancy.

Actually they are. Of course it’s relative. Their starting point was shithole country.

How’s Australia doing? New Zealand?

Lets discuss immigration policies of both countries... Australia and New Zealand

Having an ocean for a border is fantastic

And neither country allows hardly anyone in...

Why? Because protecting your citizens' interests is a great idea.

Import the 3rd world, get the 3rd world.

I don't know much about Switzerland but it sounds like a funding problem and not a spending problem. That's the issue in the US but it's framed as a spending problem.

Our private system is objectively more expensive than a public one.

While I agree our health care system (Canada) isn't always perfect, its nowhere near as bas as shown above. And no one goes into crippling debt because they have to pay for it, or dies because they can't afford it. Could it be improved? Fuck yes. But is it as bad as the US model? Fuck no.

I'd posit that the US's lower life expectancy has zero to do with Healthcare and almost 100% to do with the American Diet and Lifestyle.

COVID exposed how unhealthy Americans are, from kids to the elderly. Morbid Obesity is out of control

You should watch this video for entertainment. It's not a political one, its more like a travel video and it shows how stunning Switzerland is.

You also like drugs and guns more than Singapore.

I'll look into whether they have better rated mental health services but they probably do given what I'm finding on the place so far lol

I'll check it out sometime. I've watched a good number of his videos.

How many Canadians cross the border to get treated in the US?

I guarentee Americans aren't going north... lol

Crossing the Border for Care

Frustrated by long waits, some Canadians are heading to the U.S. for medical treatment.

Yea sorta

What are speech laws and conceal and carry laws like in these countries ? I feel like Americans personal freedoms can't be beat ....but I agree with you that America would be made better witha functional national Healthcare system and paternity leave laws.

america! we finally have respect on the world stage after having that no good senile communist for the past 4 years! we are now seeing a boom like never before in history!
You forgot "from the likes nobody has ever seen."

Well duh. It wouldn't be free like it is for Canadian citizens. But the lowest Canadian has access to healthcare and won't be turned away at the hospital because they don't have insurance. Again, not saying our system is perfect, far from it. But a lot more Americans would benefit from our system, and the Canadian people would suffer if forced to switch to a pay for care system. "A nation should not be judged by how it treats its highest citizens, but its lowest ones".

Everyone's criticizing the US, but I can't name a country that is doing things right. I used to think of Switzerland but I watched the Pete Santinello travel video on Youtube and saw they have their own very serious problems over there. So now, I can't really think of a single country.
What are the issues with Switzerland? That's always been my go-to answer to this.

I'm a huge fan of the 1st amendment and from what I understand our free speech is robust, even in comparison to other first world countries.

I'm sure we have more freedom in owning guns and concealing them than most countries though we also have significant problems with mass shootings, particularly in schools. I'm a gun owner and I've had this discussion with gun owning friends before. I don't have a good answer.
