What books are you reading?

I finished this series recently as well. I enjoyed it overall. The first book took some time to really pull me in. But the second and third books were good. There is going to be a movie or series on this, as it is nearing production (or may even already be in production).

What I am currently reading, is book 1 of the Leaphorn and Chee series by Tony Hillerman. It is the source material for the new AMC show Dark Winds, following a tribal officer Joe Leaphorn as he investigates mysterious killings, intertwined with Native American/Indian folklore and witchcraft. Good stuff.
I read a Tony Hillerman book years ago. I don't remember the title, but it was good. I will have to read some more by him soon.

SAS Bravo Three Zero.

Story of the british SAS bravo patrols in Iraq during the gulf war. Was reading as I'm looking to join the army next year but may have some issues which would medically disqualify me. hopefully not

Starting to read again since I decided to stop smoking weed daily and preserve what's left of my mental faculties. I need something fun and easy to get going, so I started with this. Very entertaining if you like sci-fi, but more like a book of short stories centered around a single protagonist. I wish he would write more sci-fi, I'll likely never read GOT.

I'll have to check this one out. I liked his other sci-fi/horror story, Nightflyers.

Regarding the weed, I actually like to read when I am high sometimes. I would get hyper absorbed into the material. lol

I loved the ASoIaF by Martin. I read a set of his short stories. Meh. I hadn't heard of this one.
Unfortunately I watched the show first and it has ruined any desire to read the GOT books. If you like sci Fi and short stories I would highly recommend..easy read and very attending.

The Book of the New Sun......again.

Nice illustrated Folio version of it though now rather than my old dogeared paperbacks.

The books are a long haul and we probably won't ever see the last 2. I read the Nightflyers short stories about 2 years ago.

Yeah too many years of daily smoking has deteriorated me, completely changed who I am. I used to be able to read baked too. It's crazy some people can smoke forever and nothing, but for me it became a problem. Anyway, you should definitely check it out, a fun read..and I'll have to check out Nightflyers, I've heard of it. Is it a one off book?

Looks like the book consists of short stories, with the novella Nightflyers being the most prominent. That is the one that they adapted for a limited TV series a few years ago. I think the show was on the SyFy network, if I remember correctly.

Miami Blues. A good crime noir novel.

I needs more crime noir novels.

you probably already know this but there is also a movie adaptation starring Alec Baldwin & Jennifer Jason Leigh. I didn’t particularly like the movie version but if you liked the book, you may want to check it out

thanks. I heard that but also saw it seemed to be only okay. I plan to check it out just to see how they do Junior's love interest.

I just finished the book last night and plan to start book 2 in that series or Pimp by Iceberg Slim. Its always been on my list but never got to it.

If you happen to check out the movie version, I’m curious what you think

Which honestly has been kind of a let down so far. I’m about a third the way through it. It was well reviewed. It’s well researched but it just hasn’t been very engaging to me. Maybe it’s because I already know that era so well that I don’t find it as interesting as some. I dunno.

Yeah i actually didn't like the other book I posted and quit reading it. Reading Between two fires right now and probably 2/3s the way through it. Highly recommend it. Some very good creepy horror stuff and medieval demon action.

One of my favorite authors. All of his works are challenging, but very rewarding.
