I mentioned in another horror thread before why I don't "get" slasher films.
It's probably because the settings doesn't induce fear for me to relate to the victims of the film because I'm living in high rise building in Asia. Most if not all slasher films are in suburbs in huge ass bungalow or whatever you call them. I simply can't relate to being stalked in these are I guess. Or road trips that turn wrong because they got stuck in the woods or something. I can't relate to that because I live in a concrete city.
I don't shit on them though because I can understand why people love them and felt fear for these films.
One particular horror that freaked me out, and most Asians, is the Hong Kong version of The Eye. Because of the lift scene. Gives me goosebumps, again because I can relate to it. I take lift home every single day and at the back of my head, I think shit, that could happen. Especially because the film was out when I'm in my late teen and I reach home 2am to 3am <45>
Nope, is it on Netflix? I will try to find it.
