Too much djent to be considered dark in any sense of the word. Nice taste for an album cover though. I've seen several artists use this same piece for their album art.

Without looking it up, I think it's a Caravaggio.
It's a subgenre of Metal called Thall which is generally a very gothic and dark sounding genre.

I think the definition of dark with regard to metal is too subjective unless we're discussing lyrics.

I have not heard of Thall before. I mostly listen to post black and ambient. Dark music for me would be something like Aderlating, Spear of Gold and Seraphim Bone.
