Huge fan of Cranes. It was during the late 1990's that I would have psychedelic parties and my friend Glen would always want me to play one song in particular from them.



Every room in the house would be lit with a blacklight, Red bulb or Blue bulb. I preferred everyone to be on the same substance but half the time everyone was on something different. Back then Ketamine was just as readily available as Shrooms or Acid. College years. I was taking quarter hits of Acid just about every day. I just realized how much sharper my perception was while on it. Of course I took breaks though. They call it micro dosing nowadays. Back then there was no name for it.

Gun to my head it's the "best song ever" recorded, I know that it has been covered a million times before and after. But The Animals rendition is perfect with the buildup and tension rising throughout the entire song. It's Eric Burdon's vocals and Alan Price's organ playing that builds the mood, and sets it apart. The fact that it came out in 1964, still holds up, and still kicks ass is a testament of that.
